Left & right kidney grill surrounds on my new car are two different colors

Okay, this is weird. When I took delivery of my 2021 M240i a few weeks ago, I told the salesperson that the one kidney grill surround looked stained. She said it was no big deal and she would have the detailer clean it up before I drove off. Well, I didn't even look at it again then I left town for nine days, came back and went for a two day drive. When I washed it yesterday, I could really see the difference in color. One side looks normal and the other is stained and sort of a bronze color.

I'm going to take it back to the dealer next week. Not sure how that kind of thing makes it through QC.

The left one is definitely darker. Is it like that at every angle?

Yes, it's not just a lighting artifact. Also, the third photo shows the stains that were not removed by washing and detail spray.

There is definitely a difference. Grilles come in basic, sport & luxury - someone messed up! I kind of like the bronzy one.

Well, I’m pretty sure that it’s the one on the right. Maybe I’ll stop by the dealer tomorrow and eyeball some of the other grills. Aside from the color, the permanent stains on the bronze one are problematic.

Swung by the dealership yesterday and the SA brought out a service tech along with the service manager. They all stared at the grill for a bit and agreed that it doesn’t look right. They’ve never seen this kind of thing before. Anyway, they are going to replace it so it’s all good.

Good opportunity to replace them with the all black ones if you like that look.
