Highest mileage?

So let’s hear it. It’s been a few years since this was asked over on the 3 series forum, if I’m not mistaken. Just checking in to see if there are any high mileage 220’s/228’s out there. If so, how goes the N20 journey?

I’ve all but decided that this engine, unless heavily internally modified, should probably remain untuned as I’m in it for the long haul. But no issues here at 48k. Hoping for some good news...!

46K here, 08/14 build MY '15...no issues and love this car. Put on about 20K miles after 1 year of ownership (100 mile commute), with 5K oil change intervals. It may be naïve but this has given me peace of mind so far when it comes to the N20

Definitely not the highest mileage, but I have 28,550. Funny thing is that I drive it every day.

57k, MY14. Fuel pump replaced in 2015, thermostat replaced in 2019. That aside, car has been rock solid. As OP sstated, with no modifications and proper maintenance these engines are reliable. Well what about the dreaded timing chain failure?... if you dont use the start/stop function and dont wait till 10k to change your oil then im pretty sure you will be okay.

2016 45k stock drivetrain. Second owner but had my mechanic check thouroughly. All good so far. Only issue I have had is the ac stopped blowing cold on a long trip. Hasn’t happened again, but haven’t taken it on a long trip. Not a DD.

I heard that is normal on long distances with ac, I guess it's like a defrost cycle.

nah. the evap coils freeze over on long car rides and lower air flow. solution is a spacer they made for the f30 that also fits f22. moves the temp sensor in the passenger foot well about an inch out and prevents freezing.

I'm at 52k and had a major brake module failure. Bmw had to do the repair and ship in the part from Germany. It was 5400$

Other than that, no issues. But that one really hurt.

Just got to 57k and having the car serviced early tomorrow because it gets driven hard daily. I blew a coolant pump at about 28k; around $3,000 in repair, and also had to have the parts shipped from Germany.

Any things I should look to have replaced or upgraded?

did you have an oil pan leak, weeping or just preventative? Every time I tighten that plastic drain plug after an oil change I cringe. aluminum pan mod in my future.

2015, 70k. New engine, cpu, turbo, waste-gate, intercooler. All covered under warranty at 45k, ultimately to replace the cat which had fouled after 2 injectors had failed.

i need to get the exact mileage from my daughter -- who has taken over the car as primary driver -- but it's over 92K miles on MY2015 228ix. we've really had no issues with the car...other than regular maintenance, it has only blown the charge pipe gasket / seal.

it's been my favorite car that i've ever owned and was the primary reason that i upgraded to an M2C.

That’s great news, 100k is an accomplishment. I’m up to 74k now and I recently had the shift shaft seal done and a new belt and idler pulley. That’s literally it though.
