Real World Fuel Economy

What is your real world fuel economy?
I do mostly city driving with AC on, drive gently and I am averging 14L/100km on my 228i
That seems high for a small car...

What is your average speed in the city? Idling and braking between traffic lights will increase the consumption a lot. Our M240i averages 12 l/100km at an average of 40km/h in the city and 8 l/100km on the highway at an average of 120km/h. The current Bxx engines are about quite a bit more efficient than the previous Nxx engines, in my experience, though (about 20% better with the B58 in our M240i compared with the N54 in our old 135i).

About 60km/hr in city.
This car was advertised 10L/100km so 14 is quite a lot higher

14 is very high for a turbo 4 cylinder on a relatively small car. My heavy SUV w a 300hp v6 gets about 14-15L per 100km in the city.
Do you drive with a heavy foot or more smoothly?
What fuel are you using? How many km on the car?

I get between 250 and 280 miles per tank. That's roughly 21-23 mpg (US).

Comfort mode 70%, Sport 30%. Eco mode is fucking horrible, it's not worth the savings to drive a car so gutless.

Wow, I do maybe 70% city and 30% hwy and I average 19-20mpg. I just did a weekend trip up to Seattle from Portland and I did get 30.1mpg over 400 miles.

I would say I am on the smooth side.
It is a 2016 model with just over 50000km on it.
Using Shell 91 currently.

I am doing 95% comfort mode and auto engine start/stop disabled.

I get 16.5 around town in Comfort mode and 16.1 in Sport mode. I drive in Sport about 80% of the time. I'm not saving that much gas in comfort so Sport it is. I hate Eco mode, I'm not interested in saving a little gas and never use it. I bought the car to have fun not save on gas.

I am averaging 19.4 with the way I drive.

I spent 1 week pussyfooting it everywhere to see how well I can do. Did a combined 27mpg I think city/highway.

That was a rough week, never again.

I put it in comfort once by accident without realizing it - it was the WORST. Put my foot on the accelerator and it was like wait a minute, that's gonna use a lot of fuel, you sure? Hmm I don't think this is a good idea. Really? Ok w can go a little faster.

I do drive in comfort mode quite often, as in I drive my X5 and it's very comfortable

EDIT: above applies to Eco my bad. Comfort not great but not horrible.

I average about 10L/100KM, or 400-450km per tank (45L). Not bad considering I'm WOT a lot in this car almost daily on my way to and from work, with 3,000ft of elevation change.

If I were to really try, I could probably squeeze 500-550km/tank, but that wouldn't be any fun, we're talking and extra $10-20/tank or so for endless enjoyment

My first 1200 miles have been almost all interstate and local highways . Maybe 2% has been city driving. Always in comfort mode so far.

Mileage to date is 32.5 mpg. I have 35 miles on the current tank, and the display says I have 413 miles to go. I'm driving 600 miles tomorrow and expect more of the same: steady cruising at ~70 mph and remarkable gas mileage for what this car is.

I use Shell V-Power 93 octane gasoline.

in my 235i I average 11L mix with 80/20 city to highway with no ac and minimal stop and go. I agree, when the ac is on, it drinks like 20% more in the city.

I'm also 6spd manual with FBo and flash tune. Without the tune I was getting like 9.5ish!

Here is some really geeky shit- about a year of driving data on the stock 2.81 auto final drive. Includes a mix of pre & post Dinan stage 1 driving.

Here is less data on the 3.08 final drive. Stopped tracking it when I changed tire size. Notice a bit more linear. Better mileage at slow speeds, but worse at higher speeds. But, its worth it!

I'm getting 12L/100 in 100% Sport mode, city driving, AC, little traffic and not many lights. It's much lower on highway trips that are 2-3 hours, 8-9L/100.

alexxa 14L on a 228 seems high. Is this stop/start traffic? It might be worth trying 98 petrol for a few tanks. I had better milage on a Lexus turbo 4 using higher octane fuel.

How are y'all get 32+ mpg?! I just did 400 miles roundtrip on ECO driving like a grandma 90% of the way and I just broke 30.1mpg! I can't imagine getting any better unless I was rolling in neutral

Is yours the manual? The eight speed can go over 30+ no problem
