I dont understand why people keep telling me that coupes are just for fun and not practical I mean its fun but also practical

The 2 is my 3rd coupe in a row. 1er. 3er. Now a 2er.

Practicality is a relative term. My coupe is practical for me because 99% of the time, I never have more than one person in the car with me and I don't need to haul things or tow. It's just a daily driver. I don't need 4 doors and almost never use the back seat for anything more than keeping my rain jacket ready. Trunk is more than enough for luggage for the wife and I and groceries are about the only other thing Inout back there.

I owned a 4 door for 9 years and realized it was a waste of doors and space for me.

I would agree...until a baby enters the picture! Then 2 doors just doesn't cut it.

Practical? HELL YES! - anything that virtually prevents the in-laws from riding along should be classified as essential. Then there is all the money I save on Prozac by driving something that still puts a grin on my face before I even start it .

I am lucky enough have the right "tools" over all occasions. My wife prefers driving and riding in her SUV, so if we need to take a few passengers or take a long road trip, her Q5 is the perfect tool. I have my truck for runs to Lowes / Home Depot, pulling sailboats, hauling hockey gear or just tailgating before the game, again an essential tool for those jobs. Then there is my m235i - the perfect vehicle for daily driving / commuting. I rarely have a passenger, and when I do, it's usually my wife in the copilot's seat. I have driven some type of coupe or convertible as my daily for the past 12 years and wouldn't have it any other way. It's comfortable, fun and easy to park. The way I see it, while I could use my one pound sledge hammer to pound a nail into the wall to hang a picture, the smaller 10 oz. hammer just works better for that job. So too, I could drive the truck everyday, like a lot of folks, but as much as I enjoy driving it, I much prefer my BMW on a daily basis. Again, the perfect tool for the job.

My 1 series was a little cramped with the kids rear facing car seats, but now they're all forward facing it's great, so glad I didn't get a 3 series sedan or larger.

For about 7 years I drove a 2 seater, so its relative, compared to that, the 2er is WAAAYYY more practical.

That is just perfect... you would be surprised of the ingenuity of coupe + convertible owners when it comes to hauling non carbon-life form objects.

I have seen similar hauling scenarios at my Sams Club 2 weeks ago when they had a nice sale on 65 inch and up UHD TV's. I was forced to buy one also (that's what I tell the spouse) but in all the excitement of taking one of these bad boys home I forgot I have a coupe + convertible also [face palm] and rented a trailer at Home Depot for the CRV instead... ahhh!

CP911: Hops is entirely correct. Rear facing can be made to work if you have to. Once they get to forward facing, the 2er is easy! My kids love my car!

Hopping in the back seat to cinch them down in a rear-facing seems like it would be a royal PITA after the 2nd time, but I guess I can see how the front-facing scenario is a bit easier.

Still though, my 15-month old has a track record of projectile vomiting in our cars. Like splatter all over the back rest, head rest, drip down to the seat cushion. Total freaking nightmare when it happens. No way in hell is he getting in my m240i until he is old enough to talk and let me know he is about to puke. Haha...good times being a parent!

LOL. We can't tell if it's motion sickness for sure, but I'm praying not so we can do track days with my m-lite in about 18 years!
