3 series to 2 series rim swap?

Hello, new to this group. Thanks for having me.
I had Ordered 18” O.Z. Rims and brand New tires for my 2006 BMW 330Xi in anticipation of winter ending. Well, before that swap could happed I lost a fight with a ditch and insurance totaled my car. I now have a 2016 M235Xi which I LOVE, but so far have only run the stock BMW summer rims and cheap winter rims with Blizzaks. (I live in Alaska.)
My question is will the 18” rims from the 2006 330Xi fit the M235? The dealer said absolutely not and users on other facebook forums have said “no problem, if they fit, they fit.” Seemed like too simple of an answer to me.
When swapping to the wither tires I did loosely hold up the O.Z. Rims and the bolt pattern lined up and everything “seemed” OK, but I’d like a second opinion from y’all, the experts. The guy I talked to at American tire was as useless as tits on a boar.
I’ll either use the rims or sell them, so no real loss, I just want to know what is safe to do. I’d really like to run them on the 235 since I love to look and the tires have zero mile on them.
Thanks all,
Travis

They should fit if originally spec’d for a BMW with cone seats for the wheel bolts, optimally if they have ET45 offset they will be a perfect fit with 225 wide tyres. The M235Xi standard M14x1.25 wheel bolts will work with some O.Z. wheels, but the 2006 330Xi ones won’t as they will be M12x1.5. If the wheels require narrow headed “tuner” bolts that some O.Z. wheels do, you will need to get a new set of bolts. You will want to use the same hubcentric adapter rings on the M235Xi that you used on the 330Xi.

I’m currently using O.Z. Omnia 18x8 ET45 winter wheels on my M240i. The standard size winter tyre is 225/40-18, although I run a non-standard 225/45-18 tyre with no issues.
