They look great and they don't rub on normal street driving!!!
I'm very happy!
On the front, how many mm do you have clearance between the tyre and suspension strut and the wheel and suspension strut. I am getting 18" 8.5 ET40 and not sure a 235/40 will fit without rubbing

I no longer have those wheels. But, there was 1-2mm between the tire and the strut.
I now have 8.5 ET40 wheels with the same tires and there is ~1mm between the tire and the strut.

I did not measure between the wheel and strut. There was plenty of room.

Wow that's a bit too close. So guess I will have to stay 225/40 😞. Can you do me a favour and post some pictures to show how much tyre overlaps the wheel rim? A measurement too would be awesome. Also do your tyres have a rim protector?

I'm confused as to why 1-2mm between the tire and strut is too close.
There's no movement there, so as long as it's not touching it's fine.

I was concerned about tyre movement when cornering hard as you get some roll over. Would that 2mm be lost very easily and then rub?

I put about 7K miles on these tires (Michelin PS A/S 3+, 235/40) on my previous wheels and about 1K miles on my new wheels, without any issues.
I'm sure that top of the tire does flex some when cornering hard. But as long as there is clearance when the vehicle is stopped, I don't think there is going to be any issue there.

Ok, so you have seen no evidence of rubbing on the strut in all those miles and you running a 225/40 18" tyre on an ET40 offset, so fingers crossed it should be ok. I think I will go for a tyre without a rim protector to give a little more clearance 👍

When I took the wheels off after the 7K miles, I did see what appeared to be a rub on the sticker on one strut, but there was no evidence of rubbing on the sidewall of either tire (235/40/18).
