230i xDrive Suspension Mods

Hey all,

I’ve been having a tricky time with this. I have a 2018 230i xDrive with a stock suspension (no adaptive). I’m looking to either get lowering springs or coilovers (lowering springs preferably just due to cost). However, I’ve had a hard time finding a lowering spring that will confidently work with the xDrive model. Eibach, H&R, and Dinan all have rwd solutions, but none state compatibility with the xDrive.

I’ve spoken to a few shops in the Philly area and gotten mixed opinions. Thompson BMWs performance group said they could not find any suspension mods for my car. Another local shop said they have an Eibach kit they think will work. Searching on the forums, I haven’t really found a clear answer/solution.

I looked at MSS suspension kit as well and emailed them, their rep says it should work minus the PU seat which they are developing.

Anyone have any thoughts or is running a rwd spring on the 230 xDrive with success?

i know a lot of guys trust the recommendations on tire rack for wheels and tires, but i'm not sure how accurate they are for suspension items. that said...when i search tire rack for suspension upgrades to my 228i xdrive, i get a full page of options from blistein, koni, and KW.

Yeah I see the Dinan springs on here when I do this and Dinan said they are a no go for the awd.

I do see these KW Variant 1 coilovers that seem to be an option?

you could call / online chat with a tirerack rep and find out whether they have actual install data.
