Uhh, are the headlight washers supposed to soak half my car?

I guess I used the washers tonight for the first time with it being dark enough for it to also use the headlight washers, and it sprayed the most unbelieveable amount of washer fluid over the front half of my car. It honestly looked like my car had the front bumper, hood, fenders, and some of the roof with soapy water as if they were going to wash the car. Did about 15-20 minutes of driving afterwards and my car was still was still dripping when I finally got home. Are the washers really supposed to spray that much washer fluid or is something not right with mine? My B5 Audi A4 has headlight washers as well and it doesn't do anything like this. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed their washers using an absurd amount of fluid, and getting most of it on the rest of the car?

Sorta funny that it took me 2,900 miles and 8 months to use the headlight washers though.

Mine do the same thing, they suck lol! And completely unnecessary where I live (I didn't get them by choice, my car has the cold weather package)

I posted a thread a week ago about how to disable them when all you want to do is spray the windshield washer, the only response I got was to turn off the headlights before spraying.

Do you know of another way?

Thats the only thing I could think of, but I only remembered it while my car was being doused in washer fluid.

You can code them off.
It's in the diy coding thread

Yeah, I was surprised too when I clicked the windshield washer fluid and washed the entire car. I was standing still at the time so it wasn't blown by the wind. I imagine if I was doing over 40 I'd be washing the Audi behind me. Why would they design it that way?

As noted above, they come with the CW package. They need to put a lot of volume down to cut slush and salt buildup.

Correct, and they work best at speed. Always have.

This is exactly why my headlight washer system is coded to NEVER come on. It will literally spray the entire hood with soap and ruins a perfectly good car wash. There needs to be some control other than having it come on everytime the lights are on.

How can you possibly survive without the heated steering wheel?

Gotta tell you, BMWs were off the table during the period where you couldn't get a 3 coupe with one. One of my most favored features.

yeah, one of our most favorite features on our X5, although probably not a dealbreaker.

Its one of the reason I'd never get the M Performance steering wheels, that and I hate the feel of alcantara on my hands.

I see an S4 with a sport diff as the perfect winter car. But no heated steering wheel option which makes my commute much more bearable

Genuinely turned me away from buying an audi and eventually on to my BMW.

Same for the windshield washers. So damn annoying! Why couldn't they just have the spray angle a little lower to only hit the windshield. stupid.
