M235i OEM Exhaust Questions

The blue 235 convertible at my local dealer has black exhaust tips. Could have sworn that several coupes I saw a while back had chrome tips, not silver. Was there a change at some point? The window sticker on the car said nothing about any optional exhaust components.

Also, BMWUSA's website says a "sport exhaust system" is standard on the '15 235. I looked at the 2014 owners manual on line, and there's no mention of a sport exhaust. Anyone know exactly what the "sport exhaust system" is? Is it something new for the 2015 model year?

Thanks in advance for your help.

the silver ones might have been port installed with m perf exhaust with chrome tips. stock exhaust has black tips and is "sporty" as in its more sporty than say a 3-series exhuast

That is correct, the M Performance Edition in Canada gets the upgraded sport exhaust with chrome exhaust tips.It also comes with a different fully painted rear bumper.

I know that the M Performance exhaust can take the stock tips, so is it safe to presume the M Performance chrome tips can be affixed to the stock exhaust? They are both attached by screws.

Yes. The tips protrude more so than the OE tips to account for additional overhang when installed with M Performance Rear Diffuser.
