Crazy instrument cluster

Hi. 21k on the clock. Came at a stop light and greeted with a lightshow. Anyone have any ideas why?

Seems like the cluster is rebooting. I would think faulty cluster or a short circuit.

I was the OP in the above linked thread. I was seeing the issue only under the condition of being at a specific intersection and navigation active with a route. It was fixed after a software update. I will see if I can find the work order for this

There’s a software update for the gauge cluster. The dealer will install the update for free. It takes about 2.5 hours for the software to load. What are they using, an RS32 cable?

Simple temporary fix ...

I was also having issues with my 2016 M235i and found a temporary fix or permanent if you don't care about showing the turn by turn on instrument cluster.

As many others have already pointed out, the problem is related to the navigation displaying the turn-by-turn directions on the instrument cluster and here is a simple fix until you have time to goto the dealer to update the navi code.

Goto Main Menu -> Settings -> Instrument Cluster

Uncheck Navigation
