M235 Speedometer Lighting

I just got an M235, coming from a 135. I find the speedo/tach display to be dim during the daytime, while it is fine when orange lit at night. Is it normal for there to be no backlighting of the speedometer during the day, or is that a maintenance issue on my car?

Yes thats normal, if you keep your headlights on auto then the tach lights up whenever the head lights do.
