The M2 will be much closer to the E30 M3 in many ways than one against the 1er M Coupe.

S20= Confirmed

While I love me some inline 6, BMW's have just gotten too damn heavy. I would much rather have the lighter weight.

Yup, one enthusiast promoting the brand is much more effective than short expensive marketing vid on youtube. Imagine a group of die hard fans?

Porsche got it right, and charging the extra overhead to buyers which they are gladly paying just because.

Probably best BMW keeps the small group of enthusiasts for compact sports like the M of E30/36/46 happy. Profit is everything but that comes when brand image is secure. Also BMW needs a real Halo car to compete because "Just because". When's the M1 coming out?

Mmm for Racing Look

This is what the M235i should look like as production car.

This is loverly! Will it be road legal or track only?

If it is to be road legal, the bumpers sketch posted by Adverdo will have to be reworked, they won't pass bumper regulations if they have integrated quarter panels.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

Not sure i'd jump to that conclusion. Scott specifically says it will be closer to the e30 in many ways except one. The one way it differs, I'd hazard, is the engine. I just can't see an M235 with a 6 and an M2 with a 4 at this point.

While enthusiasts might be okay with the change if everything balances out correctly, a 4 cylinder M2 will be a hard sell for people familiar with the brand or status purchases.

You have misread what Scott said...

He said it will be like the original M3 in more ways than one.
