Transmission concerns post JB4

Hello!

First post here. I have about 5500KMs on my car... JB4, BMS Intake, ER Catless DP, and MPE installed just after the break-in period was complete. Couldn't be happier with the performance and sound of the vehicle running Map 2. Recently I've felt the transmission has been shifting rather hard. Notable in 1/2 gear while slowly accelerating, it tends to shift hard on the upshift. While under hard acceleration I do not notice this behaviour, or in higher gears during normal acceleration.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

The JB4 is basically disabled at low throttle so its not likely to be related. Perhaps when you disconnected the battery the trans needs to readapt now, etc.

Thanks for the reply mike. I don't believe the transmission issue occurred until recently, it was fine immediately following the install. Its only within the last week I've started to notice the jerky shifts. Is anyone else experiencing this?

There's an SW update for auto that cures jerky shifts and slow gear change from 1st to 2nd when cold.

Suggest you get this update done to your car.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not of the impression that the JB4 is causing the issue, rather that perhaps the additional power has caused a transmission malfunction? I've been a bit apprehensive to head to my local stealership as I'm concerned what they might say when they see the JB4/Intake/DP. I'll keep you posted.

If you are heading for transmission issue, i strongly recommend that you remove all your mods first

Bee Pee,

Is this SW update documented somewhere in black and white? I have noticed the sluggish 1-2 shift in the morning when I first pull out of my drive way upon the cold start. Would be nice to take something official to the dealer showing that there is an update.

Hi Nick,

There's nothing formalised but do a search in UK site Babybmw under m135i/m235i as there's a few threads on there about SW update which fixes gbox glitches.
