QUOTE=rhop101;25230785]Yea think I’m just gonna go 225/255 just to play it safe. Mainly using the car on road with maybe 2-3 autocrosses a year at most, so we’ll see what I think about the 255 on the back maybe next time I’ll get the 235 if I think it’s too pushy. I see what you mean about the flipping. If I was autocrossing more that would definitely be a reason to go with the RE71[/QUOTE] Last edited by Kayleighpppp; 07-27-2020 at 09:45 PM.. |

I think I may try even lower pressure since the 'triangle' is still untouched . (1~2 mm away from touching it) |

Every track will vary, too. TMP the left front gets hotter than everything else, so next time I'll go 1-2 psi lower on that corner alone.

FWIW, while necessary when starting out, and never a bad thing, smooth hands can be overrated. Witness the technique employed starting at 1:19 in the video below by 60-time IMSA winner and Turner Motorsport pro driver Bill Auberlen as he keeps his car at the edge of traction. Auberlen is now tied with sports car racing star Scott Pruett for most IMSA wins ever. Also, listen to what he's doing with the throttle from 1:26-1:30. You'd think the car would be moving all over the place, but in that turn (and in some turns on other tracks) it keeps the car on the line perfectly. It's the fastest way through the turn when driving that line.

The seat is moved forward as much as possible. My knees are almost touching the underdash and my helmet is touching the roof. (I'm 6'3" with relatively long torso.) This car is basically the smallest car that I can fit in. lol I think it's just my bad habit about the steering input. I move it too much, too often even when I don't need to. |

With enough seat time, the steering generally becomes what it needs to be in each turn, especially as your increased confidence enables you to begin going faster.

Last TrackSprint of this year.
I managed to cut 2 sec from my previous best time. Still see lots of places to improve. Comparison to the previous best run. I was faster pretty much everywhere. |

Mini track day
Attended mini (only 2 sessions) track day at Autobahn CC south
It was ton of fun chasing/leading with a friend (ZL1). Brake gave up after 5~6 laps in 2nd session. Pedal went soft and went waaay in. lol Obviously, stock brake fluid is not up to the track event. (Had ATE 706202 Original TYP 200 last year and it was never this bad) I was surprised how fast the Veloster N was! (I'm sure the driver was also faster) It snakes through the turns super quick. My car feels like a boat. |

Yeah, that's been mentioned a couple of times before here. Unfortunately, there's not much to be done about it if you're going to continue using it on the street.
The more open the course and the wider the track's pavement the less a 6-cylinder 2 Series will feel like what I think of it as being, and that's a GT car. Have you considered going up to Road America? That's a track that should enable you to begin exploring the limits of your car in a way that the tighter tracks won't allow.

RS4
Track Sprint 1 and 2
It was wet for the Track Sprint 1. RS4 had no grip whatsoever in wet and relatively cold condition. (I spun at the 1st turn in 1st run. lol) 2nd event was much better for the tire. Still much less grip and lots of understeer through turn 4 compared to the RE71r. This tire may not have ultimate grip level but it does last forever. I don't see much wear on the tire yet.....(good and bad. I want to try different tire now but it is less than 25% worn...) |
