You may want to talk to a good tuner if you want to find out how far you can push it without breaking your manufacturer's warranty if that's an issue. The problem is that no tuning product design shop has a business plan that justifies much time spent on developing 50-state legal products for a SULEV engine that only exists in about three states (I believe). You will have to get past the N26's self-imposed restrictions if you want to jury rig something like a Dinan S4 Big Turbo tune designed for the N20. Dinan will wink and tell you it's possible but I wonder if they would allow their vendors to do this to your N26.

so this is what I have put together for my "build" remember I'm looking to keep it a daily driver but add a little more power to it. ideally I want to get it to 350whp but it's looking like a pipe dream please give me some feed back thanks
these add ons would put my 2016 228i xdrive at base 240 +(59)=299 dinan said stock is 261+(59)= 320 do i believe dinan or the factory |

Looks like a solid build, I don't know about the cat though. Make sure you do good research on that.
I don't know who to belive, I think your best bet is to do before and after dynos. I think you will be very happy with the gains either way. |

The N26 is the same as the N20; the only differences really are the more restrictive Cat(s) that supposedly pull the power down. I haven't seen an N20 dyno that says it's significantly more than an N26 honestly. The rest of the parts on my car (hoses, etc.) all say N20.

Catbacks are a waste of money on stock internal engines if you are looking for HP increases. If you want sound, buy an axle back system imo.

I don't really see the N20/N26 comparison as being a big deal. As mentioned, its the same engine with a higher restrictive Cat/downpipe being the biggest difference. As for suspension...KYB shocks/strut systems seem like a popular upgrade. Brakes can be upgraded for about $2200 to the M-performance setup but I think just changing to a higher performance pad will net you the same improvement. I have stock base brakes and they haul my car down from speed pretty fast...

228i vs 240i
Ok so I made the mistake of test driving a 240i
I currently own a 2016 228i x drive and it's ok but is there any chance I can get the same thrills from my 228i x drive that I get from the 240i drive |

Everyone says BMW underrates HP, but look here... http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1334063 ... this European dyno basically says the factory number is right on spot.. 240hp and a corrected hp (how ever they calculated it) 244hp. If you have enough $$$, sure you can do it. But do you really want to spend the coin to get there?

so
so I should find one dyno and do a base test them go from there??? I'm mostly looking for more get up and go from the engine. I've found that I'm certain road condition intersections and filling that gap when changing lanes there's a lag and if I have it in sport or sport plus the engine seems jerky at times

Yes, use the one dyno, and try to use it when atmospheric conditions are as close as possible to your baseline. To be accurate, you need to have all conditions are close to being the same as possible, to see how much a given mod effects the power.
