I noticed [link below] under my car today.

Wondering if something similar has ever happened to anyone else? it looks bent and really weird, not sure what caused it. How difficult is it to replace? Can it be done by 1 person? How critical is this part to the drivability and function of the car?

is this the correct part?

Yeah but i always make sure they use the correct jack point with a flat top.

The jacking block has damage on the inside, almost as if the car slipped off a jack or lift, which then went through the underbody cladding. Alternatively driving over the end of a parking block or hitting road debris could also cause that sort of damage.

The tie bar doesn’t look very bent, if at all, but the cladding is definitely damaged.

I was thinking road debris as well. Jack/lift shenanigans is unlikely as it would have punctured the gas tank if the weight of the car suddenly was supported by that little bar that is bent.

Anyway, thanks! can anyone point to the part number to replace(or just check if it's what i have in the OP). Is it even worth replacing? and if so how easy?

I'm not is sure I'd bother replacing that part.

If anything I'd put a new rubber lift block on to replace the torn one.

yeah, I might do a quick wrench tug to make sure it clears the fuel tank and no more rubbing occurs. and just call it.

You were getting rubbing ? Where at ?

I cannot tell much from the pictures. Is the part bent in a manner that a thin edge is aimed at the gas tank ? Because you need to make sure in an accident nothing pierces !

Yeah, the picture isn't too clear but that's kind of what is happening. the bent metal barely scrapes off the plastic fuel tank, but as you mentioned, it's still 'pointed' towards the tank and under stress can cause a puncture.

This is why I'll attempt to use a wrench to bend it out of harms way
