My 2015 M235xi 4 years later

It's been 4 years since I purchased my 2015 M235xi brand new in the fall of 2014. Since then, I've racked up 104,350 miles on the odometer and counting. I daily drove it 90 miles a day to work for 4 years plus weekends.

In summary, this car has been an absolute joy to drive!!! The M235xi is my only vehicle. I maintain two dedicated sets of wheels: 18" BBS CH-Rs w/Michelin SS from April-Nov and 18" OEMs w/Continental Extreme M&S all season tires.

The only mods have been the BBS wheels which were purchased early on.
Dinan sport springs were installed at 95,000 miles.

It's been very reliable. The only items to go bad so far just recently happened at 102,000 miles. The Vanos solenoids became faulty and were replaced. Also, the Harmon Karden ampliflier control unit broke. This was a pricey fix. The control unit part cost me $1,145 at GetBMW Parts website.

I've being very proactive with maintenance and have completed the following services:

-oil/filter changes every 7,500 miles
-all fluids and spark plugs were replaced at 60,000 miles
-serpentine belt, tensioner and pulley, new OEM rotors and brake pads at 100,000 miles

Looking forward to another 50,000 miles at least!

haffl,

Thank you for the post. As a recent buyer of a "gently used" CPO 2016 M235 with 40K on the clock, it is encouraging to hear that your first 100K was relatively trouble free. My commute is about the same so I am expecting to pile the miles on mine as well.

Best of luck on the next 50K (or 100K...).

So 2 questions what transmission do you have? And when you say ALL fluids at 60k did that include transmission and or Diff?

Thanks and GLAD to see a nice high millage owner, I get to pick up my 230iX at the performance center in 3 weeks can't wait to start racking up some miles on it.

Talking to one of the managers at a local independent recently, he recommended changing the transmission fluid at around 50-60k knowing I drive the car pretty hard at times. Didn't remember to ask about the diff...

Outstanding! I've got BBS CH-R's with AS3+ and my stock wheels with the PSS's to rotate winter/summer. I don't keep cars long so I'll never rack up the miles you have. Good to hear she's been good to you.

Post a pic of her with your BBS's.

Brakes at 100,000? That's pretty remarkable.

To clarify, I replaced the original pads at 50,000 miles then at 95,000 miles a replaced the original rotors and installed my 2nd set of pads. All items replaced with OEM parts.

I have the 8 speed ZF auto which has been amazing. Yes, all fluids includes transmission fluid and replacement of the transmission pan w/filter, front and rear differential, all wheel drive transfer case fluid, coolant, brake fluid and power steering.

That's great to hear! I'm coming up on 50k so I'm trying to decide if I should extend the warranty or not and your experience puts me a little more on the side of no. My 16' has been pretty flawless except for one failed computer module but I do however plan to get all fluids and plugs changed around 60k and possibly even look at water pump replacement.

Actually I did buy the extended warranty (100,000 miles or 6 years) at the time of original purchase. I think it cost me around $3,000. It gets more expensive the longer you wait.

I had a faulty front strut and the housing for the rear differential fluid was damaged. Both replaced under warranty free of charge less my $50 deductible.

That's still pretty good. Sounds like your freeway commute is a pretty smooth.

Glad to hear you've been fairly problem free! I just passed over 60K and had my ZF8's fluid changed as a preemptive measure. I change my oil and filter every 7500 miles. Still need to do the diff fluid, but that's fairly easy.

OP - You mentioned power steering fluid but these cars have EPS.

Shocked to not have seen a water pump and/or radiator replacement by 100K. I feel like those are usually bound to fail by then.

Oh, my mistake. I had a bunch of fluids replaced at once. I guess it's impossible to have the PS fluid replaced since it's EPS. LoL Thanks! Agreed, but luckily so far the water pump and radiator have not failed.

I made it from 24,000 to 115,000 without changing pads or rotors on my 135i. And its not like they were about to fail. Hadn't even tripped the sensor yet. That car slowed down so much with engine braking, I barely even used the brakes.
