My advice would be to spend some time combing the threads here for some good reads. I've learned quite a bit from other owners. |

It should make the car more responsive to your steering inputs. Say you're on a twisty back road with elevation changes, a properly set-up car will be easier to drive faster. A more responsive car will also be safer, all else being equal (e.g., speed, tire condition).
Note that suspension changes don't always create this improvement. You can just as easily make changes that make the car ride and handle worse that it did when it was stock. Somebody in the loop has to know what they're doing so that the changes give you what you want. There are a number of outfits around that can help, and Dinan is one of them.

Upgrading the suspension such as doing some springs or coilovers will improve the car's overall performance whether it be with cornering or better handling as well as closing up some of the wheel gap.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that you must get new springs installed! BMW really missed the mark but not making the car drive like this out of the gate. Picked up my ride with DINAN springs installed this afternoon. It feels like it is absolutely glued to the road now. It is a tad bit more bumpy but it doesn't bounce and sway after the bumps and the body roll seems to be cut in half. It gives you confidence in traction as you dive into and out of turns. Wish I did this a year ago when I first picked it up. Also it really makes a subtle change to a more aggressive and sporty look with the wheel gap closed up slightly

The usual back and forth between camps, this time about suspension.
The stock suspension, especially the adjustable suspension, gets raves from lots of people. The hard core fans want more responsiveness, but you can't have it all and the aftermarket suspension is inevitably harsher. My advice: don't do any suspension work until you have driven a car that has been modded in that way. You may like it, you may not. There is no one solution for everyone. Always be wary of anyone who says that anything is a must have. |
