Doing the delete this week. Got a quote for $90 for aluminized and I'm heading to another shop tomorrow to get a quote from them and see what materials they use. I'm thinking of just saving the money and going with aluminized since I'm in central Florida so don't deal with road salts or sea salt. I don't plan to keep the car longer than a few years either. I'll get a quote for SS and see the difference either way. Joining the club soon

Got SS for $150 put in by another shop. Sounds great so far in sport and sport+. In comfort it's not as much overrun as I expected but it's there. It's not very loud at all especially at idle. Catless downpipe will be much needed for me. Here is before and after.

today i just deleted the front muffler only, all i can say i,m pleased with the sound , no drone at all , i,m over 50 years old, and do not want a screaming car
it took only one hour for putting out the fron muffler, and replace it with a straight pipe ( pictures follow ) in comfort mode when driving easy there is no sound difference, but flooring the gas a bit, you can hear now a nice burble sound. this is how it should sound .... a happy m240i driver... |

Thanks for the post. Now I'm leaning heavily toward the dual resonator delete! It's cheap and sounds great.

I also don't want any drone coming through my convertible top so I'm deleting front first. I can always go back and get the rear later if I need more "Brap"!

I'll trade you mid pipes. I have a stock stainless modified version without resonators- professionally welded. I would like the stock version back

Bump
95% set on deleting my rear resonator after hearing this video. It's not loud loud, but it sounds good to my ears. A bit louder in comfort mode and overrun is plentiful in sport mode. Just want to verify for the millionth time. Did anyone have drone at all doing the resonators? So far no one has seemed to experience drone on the M240i by deleting resonators, but I can't shake the feeling that maybe my hearing is a bit better than others. Again, no plans to delete the center resonator at this time. I want to try to do just the rear resonator first since that one leaves the car a little quieter than the center delete.

I am getting my resonators deleted. The shop i quoted at said that the oval part will not look good because they will hammer it. From looking at pictures on this thread looks like that front oval part wasn't just hammered on. Any ideas how they got the oval part shaped?

If anyone's wondering,
I had the front Resonator deleted and rear kept stock at a local muffler shop. Even with haggling, still paid more than what most people say on this forum.. (maybe because i went right after the stimulus checks were dropped off) I digress, removing the front (fat) resonator didn't do much for a volume increase, but noticeably more burbles. I would say ~+10% volume, ~+20% louder burbles. Wasn't super satisfied and not going back to the chop shop.. now I'm on the market for a full exhaust to satisfy my needs.. |

Is there anyone here that has a video of the sound with just the front removed? Thinking of going that route and ride around in that before deciding if I wanna do the back as well.
