Possible wheel tire set up
Hey guys, I wanna get some 18x8.5+35 for my 2017 m240 and was gonna run some 245/35/18Michelin's pilot sport a/s tires. I have stock suspension. I'm assuming this will work out but I'm kinda new to this wheel tire thing so I wanted to get a second opinion. I maybe even wanted to run some 9.5 wide wheels. Please let me know what you guys suggest I do for a square set up

Hi. Saw you sitting with no answer.
I think to clear everything without rubbing, you’re probably looking for ET 38-40. And I don’t think 9.5 will fit up front. Hopefully someone who knows what they’re talking about will chime in (or they’ll tell you to go read the forum, which has tons of advice on this). Apex has a great fitment guide for the F22 that you'll see quoted many times around here: https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide
IMO ideal wheel fitment for this platform is determined by your priorities. If your goal is to fit the widest tires possible in a square setup, you are looking at wheels in either ET38/ET40 because ET39 is the exact midpoint between strut and fender. This should allow you to fit 245/35 square (as documented by other posts on this forum), but it will be very tight. Any wheels outside of that offset range will make running a 245 tire in the front very hard without rubbing, unless it's a fairly narrow compound (which the Michelins you mentioned are not). This is assuming you don't have camber plates, if you do then you should be able to achieve 245 front with about -1.5 degrees according to Apex. If your goal is to get the widest stance possible with a square setup, ET35 is probably the furthest I would go. I'm currently running Apex FL-5 18x8.5 ET35 with an old set of staggered 225/245 Pilot Sport 4S tires and both the front and rear are pretty much flush with the fender. There is definitely a little bit of room left in the front but it's tight. At some point I will play around with mounting my rears in the front to see exactly how much space there is with 245/35 up front, but I believe with Michelins they will likely rub a little bit without camber or rolled fenders. Based on some emails with Apex, it seems like the widest tires you can safely fit (at stock ride height) on 18x8.5 ET35 are 235, and Apex isn't willing to "guarantee" fitment because it's tight. I still haven't decided which tire size to go with when these need to be replaced, 235 square is the logical setup for 18x8.5 ET35 but I don't love the idea of dropping a size in the rear. The only other thing I'd say is to read through this forum religiously, tons of great threads with specific advice+pics on different wheel fitments. |
