Thrust Piece OLD / NEW

BMW Part # KIT: 32 10 6 891 974

Pictured here is my OLD (White) Thrust Piece with NEW replacement piece along with BMW FB-1 Lube.

Simple job if you have the 3-Prong Removal Tool (I ordered off EBAY).
.
My steering rack clunk in now gone - I just need to fine tune the steering feel by loosening the cap 1/4 turn.

Nice, that clunk does annoy me sometimes. Did you follow any particular diy?

Youtube Video - Thanks Jacob Lowe

Just make sure to Spray the Cap Down & Clean it off before opening up the system. I used Brake Cleaner CNC Non-Chlorinated to wipe it all down ~ to keep dirt & grit out of the system.

3rd Favorite MOD / Maint Item

Absolutely amazing and makes the steering feels so much better.
.
'
I lived with this clunk steering after the dealership had the car for 3 days
replacing Strut Hats and little else -- this way for 45k miles.

.
So 4 years later - I run across a forum posting about this Thrust Piece.
.
The noise is gone and the steering feel / solidity is like a new car to me.
.
I would say this is in my Top 3 mods -- Highly Recommended

2. Wagner Catted DP
3. New Version Steering Thrust Piece

Great info! That clunk would drive me nuts. I went downstairs to check as soon as I read this.

There's a clunk in my front suspension and I can't quite figure it out. I don't think it's the top hats because the BMW units are pretty robust.

I can't isolate it to either side but it seems more pronounced when both front wheels roll over the same seam/line.

Do you have a link to that tool that you used?
