its heavy if you compare it to a 570 or gt3, which weigh like 400-500 pounds less, but those cars are starting at prices wayyy above the case z06. the 570 has a carbon chassis. they can afford to roll those exotic materials into the car.

the z06 starts around 106k. and it has a removable roof so extra chassis strengthening is needed.

I feel bad for those who waited so long.

All it took was a 2k deposit to get on a big 3 dealer list. Did mine in 2019. Being sold at MSRP.

How about all of the people that paid $2-10k deposits and are now being told by their dealer that it's going to be $50k over MSRP? The stock market nearly doubled in that timespan and Bitcoin 6x'd (even at today's price), so...yeah. That sucks for the people who let scumbag dealers hold their money for 3-4 years. Obv people should have stuck with the "reputable" dealers but even some of them reversed course and want ADM's.

None of that matters if GM continues to refuse to let us buy the car. Let's see how late into 2024 they start giving out allocations.

At some point, if they keep this up, most of us will take our deposits back & buy something else. By the time the Z is out, the latest & greatest new thing will be out. Also, there will be no one wanting to pay ADM or flipper prices either soon enough.

These things are not even taking into account the market corrections coming...

You're not buying one. You're a drag racer.

As I said before, it will be interesting to see who is still lining up to pay ADM's or even MSRP when interest rates are 8%...When you're taking out a $100k+ loan that interest adds up real quick. Most Corvette buyers don't just have $150k in cash laying around.

I didn’t say that. I said there’s plenty of other “trustworthy” dealers who agreed on MSRP when taking deposits and have now changed their mind. I’m sure you read Corvetteforum and know what I’m talking about. There was no guarantee that the big 3 wouldn’t have done it either. Congrats on your free money/equity.

Maybe you could say Miata for a current car but it doesn't take much to contain 160 or whatever HP.

The Exige is no go-kart.
The C8 Corvette is huge, no getting around it.

Give me a BAC Mono, Radical SR3, Exige V6, Atom, Caterham 7 620R, Zenos E10, or an Ultima GTR for size.

It's a spartan go kart compared to real modern fully appointed cars, lol. I've had one back in 07ish and driven several.

The Corvette is Corvette sized. It's not supposed to be a tiny little tin can. Or, if Chevy every wanted to sell 10 a year like Lotus then they could make it a tiny tin can also. Don't see it happening.

It's a "real" car, made by a manufacturer with lightness as the goal, and it's sized/appointed appropriately.

Agreed, it's big and fat, for big and fat Americans.

I know you didn't. But i mentioned the big 3. So not sure where the confusion was.

I said i feel sorry for anyone who didn't put a 2k deposit at one of the big 3 dealers. Anyone from anywhere in the country could have done it. They weren't forced to put a deposit on randy savage chevy dealer down the street because we all know they were going to mark the price to the moon. Stevie wonder could have saw that.

There was nothing to prevent the big 3 dealers from doing that either though. You’re lucky that they’ve honored their word. Dealers are greedy bastards, plenty of them would ruin their reputation for a few extra bucks.

Ciocca/kerbeck i agree. But a quick search will show macmulkin has always stood by their word. Of course it's still a "gamble" because this is unfamiliar territory with this car and the economy but it's a low risk high reward situation.

Going to your local chevy dealer is basically banging a prostitute without a rubber. You might be lucky or you might catch the magic johnson.

Without actual data to back it up, you can't say "most"

Lots of the people on these lists are flippers too. They won't be making any payments. Maybe 1 or 2 at most if they wish to offload the car quick

It’s common sense. Corvette buyers buy $60-100k cars. Most z06 will be $150k MSRP range. High interest rates are a game changer for the vast majority of people. Even if you can afford it, do you want to pay $10k a year in just interest?
