My Brakes Rattle
Good evening and this is my first post, so I'd like too tell you about the situation. Last Christmas I bought my first BMW a 2018 230i with M sport package. So I don't drive much, I've put on about 3000 miles since I've had it, and out of the blue my front end felt weird when I would drive. So I couldn't hear anything in the car, but I could feel "loose" components up front through the steering wheel. So I did some research, took it to a mechanic that specializes in European cars and they quoted new strut caps, struts, wishbones and trailing arms. Wow, the sticker shock so I decided to swing by the dealership to see how much if any "warranty" I had on the car. 4 days until it expired... lol so I scheduled it in and they told me there was nothing wrong with it and they didn't hear anyting. So I came got the car and took off. Instantly could hear it and went back, they scheduled me again so I waited and took the car back, couldn't find anything, and they put rattle clips on the pads. Didn't help, took it back, they had the engineer come down and look at it and I took him out and he said to replace top plates. Still didn't fix It, so after that I was pretty upset, schedule again told them I don' want the car back unless it's fixed. so 2 weeks they had it, replaced the struts, put brake pads on it, new wishbone on both sides. And I still get a rattle from the front end. It is a metal on metal rattle noise, now it only happens on certain types of bumps or if it's sunny outside, cloudy outside, day or night... lol. but I have noticed that if I'm driving down a bumpy road and I ride the brake and use the gas I don't get the rattling noise. So I assume it's my brake system but what? I have been doing some digging and I do have the P337A M sport Package but I by Vin says I idon'thave the S2NH upgraded brakes, My calipers are single piston I've confirmed that butI thought the M Sport package came with suspension and Brakes, I'm wondering if somehow the brakes are incorrect on the car causing the problem? Has anyone else came across this issue and what have you done to fix it? What is making the rattling noise? Is it the floating caliper? possibly missing hardware? and it does seem like the noise is on both sides of the car, it doesn't favor one or the other? Thanks in advance, I have lost all faith in the mechanics at the dealership that they can even tell what the brake system is...
