Question on Rim compatibility between m235 and m240

Hi guys. I take delivery on my new 2018 M240i xdrive this week! has 18" rims
I've been looking at some used winter tires that someone is selling with 2015 m235 rims and 17" will they work on the new car? What do I need to check to make sure. I dont know how offsets etc work.

Exactly the same. Same car for the most except for the engine.

All 2 series from 2014-2019 can interchange wheels except for the M2.

Will the 228/230 17" clear M235/240 brakes?

That was the one thing I wanted to add, I've learned since my car arrived it has the larger brakes. This apparently plays a big part on what will and won't fit.

If anybody can chime in on what has worked for them. I'm just looking for a winter set on some nice looking rims. 18" square setup will do the trick for me.

Be careful, there are - to my knowledge last I checked - 3 different OEM brake setups that come on F22/23. 228/230 has the standard grey. Then upgrade for 228/230 but standard on 235/240 are the blue ones. Finally you can upgrade to BBK which comes red, yellow, orange (think that's it). Anyway if you've got blue you can run certain 17x7.5 wheels. Red yellow or orange no way.

I have 17" winter set, but the barrel of the wheel is beveled so it barely clears. You will struggle to find something that fits unless the wheel pokes out a bit from the hub.

Add as thin a spacer as possible.

Ensure the right length of wheel bolts are used with any spacer, 7 full turns of thread is optimal, 6 is minimum, but also ensure they aren’t too long to hit the rear parking brake mechanism (about 10 turns of thread).
