Will the new M2 Competition influence the next 2 series design direction??

Just curious if you guys know or think that the new M2 competition design will influence the next gen of the 2 series.
I personally really like the new M2, it looks fast and aggressive.

I'm hoping I can be patient enough to wait for the next big 2 series update. I'm in for a M240 if it looks as good as the M2.

Do we know when the next 2 update is scheduled to launch? 2020-21??

thx

I wouldn't be surprised if the 240 doesn't get the same HP increase as the M2. Seems like BMW wants to position the M2 as the top dog of the 2 series and leave more of a gap between it and the 240. I don't have any source just speculating.

Doubt it. I'd say the M2 competition is the most aggressive version of BMW's current design vision, but that doesn't mean it's where the 2 series is heading. I'd say the 8 series is where their design language is heading.

The only visual change with the M2 Comp vs the current M2 is the revised front and rear bumper cover, the wheels, and side mirrors.

I sure would like to like to get a M2 competition after some depreciation, I think they will hold their value though. It's going to be a toss up between the M2 competition and Corvette C8 when it comes time to buy again. (Many years from now)

Didn't I read that the next iteration of the 2 will be based on the UKL platform and be FWD?

oh thank the motoring gods I am wrong. Seems the 2 Coupe is WAY down on their list of things they care about, so wouldn't expect to see a lot of R&D going into it / will just use the current platform and do cosmetic changes. At least until they want to do a small / economical pure electric, which I would also think would be the LAST thing they make in the electric range.
