2017 M240 Driver Side Mirror Stuck Tilted Upward

I’m looking for advice on how to fix the Driver’s Side mirror on my 2017 M240 vert.

The mirror is tilted in the upmost position and appears to be stuck there.. I can hear the adjustment motor moving but the glass does not move.

As some might guess, I was swapping out the directional light to a smoked sequential light. I removed plastic mirror cover, then removed the mirror glass to get access to the T-10 torx screws. I followed directions on several YouTube videos and tilted the glass up, then pried from the bottom of the glass (not from the side which seems to increase odds of cracked glass).

After reassembly, that’s when I found that the mirror is stuck tilted upward.

Anyone else solve this problem?

TIA.

Rich

I ended up solving my problem. It appears that the mirror had exceeded the reach of the gears so giving it the ole heave-ho…pushed hard and it jumped back onto the gears.

As an afterthought, swapping the stock directionals on the side view mirrors for the smoked sequential lighting is not worth the effort and risk that you’ll break the mirror. Sure, swap out the stock silver side mirror covers to something black or a color matches your car. But the smoked sequential blinker….not worth it for me.

It was worth the risk for me just to get rid of the white (clear) stripe on the otherwise black mirror housing.

Glad you may have fixed the problem. I never thought power fold mirrors were sturdy devices. I don't use them often.
