Market Value on a 2015 BMW M235i
30k | Asking
34k | After Taxes and Fees 2015 BMW M235i | 30k Miles 6-Speed MT | Alpine White | Terra Dakota Leather Non-CPO | 6 months of factory warranty remaining Here are the main features:
I'm financing part of the cost through my credit union who provided a broker for free as a service. It's nice as manual are a bit hard to come by. This one is about 3 hours away. We've only gotten the price down by $700 from 34.7k - dealer has been real stingy (they dropped the price last week by 1k I believe). Was thinking about going ahead with the purchase tomorrow. What do you guys think about the price? Only been looking for about a week now (though I did shop around late last year). Car looks mint, though I realized just now that it doesn't have the Driver Assistance Package with the Back-up Camera and Parking Sensors. I've gotten so used to back-up cameras with modern cars now that I feel it should have it standard at that price. Maybe I can leverage this tomorrow and ask for a bit more? Thanks in advance. Edited. Some of this stuff is standard on a 235, for example the moonroof and the brakes. The price is very high, IMHO. I own a similar vehicle. You should pay closer to $30K for this one.
Walk away. Maybe they will come running back with an offer. No harm. |

I wouldn’t go past 31k after taxes and fees at most. This is an M Performance car so brakes and steering wheel are standard. Idk what “accents” are I’m assuming they meant the M sport bumpers which are also standard. The premium package I believe adds comfort access, auto-dimming/folding mirrors, satellite radio and the universal garage opener FYI. But 34k as others had said is too much.

Asking price is 30k - 34k after taxes and fees.
Dealer likes to say they won't go down especiallg due to the M-Performance stuff like the 624m wheels. Btw, this is a manual/6-speed which the only version I'd take, which seem kinda hard to come by and especially in a color I like (Alpine White). I shopped around late last year, but stopped for a bit - but now need a car within the next week or so. I live in California, btw. I've seen a couple with the same and similar specs/MY/mileage asking for 30-31k before taxes/fees and they seem to go out quick (observed late last year and the past week). There are currently only a handful live right now asking about 1k cheaper but they dont have navigation systems which is a deal breaker for me. The dealer will have BIG TROUBLE unloading a manual. You should have said that you would take it reluctantly, rather than, as you apparently did, showing your cards from the get-go.
Offer them $30K and don't go above $31K, which is a fair price for this vehicle. What kind of fees are they asking for? Are you borrowing money for the car? If so, do you have access to a credit union? They usually have the lowest interest rates on car loans. |

I'd agree a bit pricy. I guess it comes down to how badly you want the 6MT and Alpine White, because as you've found the 6MT's are much less common, let alone in the color you want. Unless the dealership isn't interested in selling cars, I'd think you could get them down a bit more on price. Needing to purchase something in the "next week or so" also limit's you a bit too. Good luck with your decision.

I'm financing part of the cost through my credit union and working through a broker (provided for free as a member). The car is out of town (3 hours away) but they agreed to deliver the car for 34k if we take it (originally 34.7k).
I only stressed my wishlist and the fact that I need the car within a week or so to the broker. I'm sure he didn't show our cards coming in. I hope. Well, I'm convinced for now. I'm going to be a little patient and wait it out. I don't mind carpooling for a bit lol. Last edited by beammeup_scotty; 02-14-2019 at 09:26 AM.. |

Ultimately it’s up to you if it’s worth it or not. 30k asking price and 34 after taxes and fees doesn’t sound right to me. When you get into the mid 30s that’s M240i asking price.

6MT is the driver here. Less than 10% of these cars are sold with manuals. Yes, most people want an auto, but the ones that want a manual are willing to pay because they are so damn hard to find and most dealers know this. Yes, they are harder to unload, but they can get more money out of them. I'll have harder time selling my 6MT, moonroof delete, non-nav M235, but I'm certain I'll get a lot more for it because it's a lightweight and quite rare.

Where are you in California? I got my 2017 CPO m240i with around 7500 miles on it for about $35k before taxes.
If you can wait or shop in Northern California, great CPO deals were around $40k last year around this time. I dislike the dealer I purchased from, but they had the best price I could find in the state. |

This is the first time im using a broker, too. It's nice to have since im busy during the week. Can only go out and look on the weekends. Also doesn't help that the car I want is hard to come by locally. |

17 posts and still no clarification of what "fees" are involved. I don't understand why people talk OTD pricing on the internet. Talk the selling price of the car. Most municipalities are in the 7-9% range, so 4k in taxes and fees is stupid high. Here in NY, I'll allow $21 for the inspection and a couple hundred on the high side for two year's worth of registration (they'll refund the diff).
Does California have some crazy emission inspection fee on used cars?

Price of the car was actually a little higher than $35k - sorry! Price offered on the car was actually $37,881. Taxes were just under $3k and with doc fees the total came out to $41,463.
Most of the other CPOs at the time were being listed at about $40k before any taxes. It was the best deal I had seen and shortly after I purchased, I saw another m240i from the same dealer that was slightly higher priced. I bought from Steven's Creek near San Jose. It wasn't the easiest buying experience, but I couldn't beat their prices anywhere else after a few months of searching. I looked at the current CPO offerings in California and it seems like there are only a handful and quite hard to find your specific color + manual combination. |

We need to be talking about used 6MTs prices here, fellas. US wide search of 2015 and 2015 used M235 6MTs is showing prices ranging from low $30s to mid 30s. Automatic equivalents are $2K-4K less on average.
The 6MT in question here is optioned with the M624 wheels which were a pricey $3K+ option.
