Right, EOP for MY19 is February. So either the factory is taking a break for retooling and no 2 series will be made in March, or March is the SOP for MY20.

For these sorts of changes I wouldn't think there would be much if any retooling required. Looks like the changes are only to items that are just attached to the car like lights and grills. The procedure to attach them doesn't change at all, just pull out a different part.

I believe it's really only when you change body panels that they need to do any retooling. I remember touring the Munich factory and they pointed this out to us when they showed us the big metal molds they used to stamp out body panels.

Are they still offering the 6MT on the 2 series for orders? I thought I read it was discontinued.

Next generation is my understanding.

Bought my DCT while it's still available as well.

Hope they get approved for US since the blacklines for the 1 & E9x 3 series weren't.
I have a 1 series so i can say the were still very easy to order online and get genuine BMW ones

I'm biased because I have one, but the 2 series is one of my favorite bmws for a long time.

Any idea what the cost would be to change to them?
On the 1 series it was like 450 shipping so not as bad a so expected for the black line LCI. Hopefully not much more but we'll see. Just have to be thankful that we have 1 piece lights.

I didn't mean the re-tooling was for these darkened headlights and grills . All I'm saying is that we known MY19 ends in February, but we do NOT know that MY20 starts in March.

The very end of the BMWGroup press release has a cryptic footnote:
"* All models available from the start of production in March / April 2019 (BMW X5)"

That sounds like all the MY20 production starts in March, except for the X5 which starts in April. Or maybe this footnote only applies to the X5? It's ambiguous. We will know soon enough. What I really want to know: will there be a MY21 F22?

If I'm reading right, LBB will be for M240i and M2 only - not 4-cylinder.

No. all were/are cash purchases.
The 2015 228xi ragtop was apparently determined (by BMW) to have suffered environmental damage while at port of entry and was recalled and crushed by BMW Corp after 9 months of ownership.
That was replaced with a 2016 M235xi ragtop for a modest incremental fee ($8K).
My son needed to replace his 2008 BMW 1-series and a 2018 M240xi ragtop came up at a special dealer sale in Sept, so he got the 2016 M235xi and I have the 2018 M240xi.
Given that the next gen 2-series will not include a ragtop version, it is highly likely that I will buy a final production year M240xi ragtop (unless BMW hits the upcoming 4-series G23 out-of-the-park).
I've had a lot of cars over the past 50 years (including a lot of American iron "muscle cars"), but nothing has put a smile on my face as much as these 2 series.

Yes, this.
I find it difficult to believe that they'll shut down production of the 2 series from February to July.

If there is a gap, it will probably be due to the expansion at the Leipzig plant. Odd the BMW is being so cryptic. Maybe they're hoping to burn off any left-over dealer inventory?

Auto brake hold. I drive a 540 but looking to lose a few doors, have grown to enjoy auto hold, especially in traffic. Anyone know if the next gen 2 will include it as it is on the 19 3 series?

F2x has auto hold on hills for 2 seconds, using ABS. Next generation is likely to replace the mechanical parking brake with an electric button operated one, then auto hold using a combination of the ABS and the parking brake will be possible.
