Items needed:
-91% Isopropal Alcohol (70% is not strong enough)
-Small sponge
-Plastic pry tool
-T20 Torx driver

1. Using pry tool carefully unsnap the hinged screw cover.

2. Remove screw with Torx driver

3. The hinge is now loose but must be rotated forward and pulled out of the rectangular mounting hole. Note electrical connector that is snapped into the side of the hinge.

4. Pull the electrical connector free from the hinge. Now unsnap the two halves of the connector and remove the visor from the car.

5. Soak the sponge in the alcohol and soak the decal. Be patient. Keep it wet. You can even walk away for a couple minutes if you desire. After 3-5 minutes the decal will start to shrink and loosen.

6. Scratch a corner loose with your fingernail and start to slowly pull upwards. Keep soaking the decal as you pull. Work slowly, the goal is to pull the decal off in one piece. It will all pull off in about 1-2 minutes.

7. You will end up with the entire sticker shriveled up in one piece with no residue left on the visor.

8. Much better!
Very many thanks for taking the time to post....£30k for 10 Month old F10 530d and I have to do this ...sheesh what we do for our cars and don't hold BMW to account for this madness !!!.....many thanks

Thanks for the post. I took mine off today, had to go buy the 91% as the GooGone I had didn't do a thing.

Took mine off last night. Unfortunately, they didn't peel off in one big piece (it was a mess). I ended up using a scratch pad and they came off well! Just took a while.

Maybe wd40 would do the trick? I've been impressed what I was able to remove with it vs the shitty goo goo gone stuff

I just finished getting the decals off my visors. Holy crap this was not easy. Decal did not peel and I tried soaking them for over 30 mins. Maybe the 2016 has a different decal or adhesive? I had to scrape each decal off millimeter by millimeter. FML

How much alcohol do you need?

Would 99.9% be too strong?

All you need is enough to lay on the decal area and soak for a few minutes. I never measured how much I use but it's very little. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 a cup. 99%...I've never seen it that strong but I think it would be fine. You can always just lay a few drops on a test area to be sure.

So, I did this recently and mine (2014) did not come off clean like OP's, unfortunately. It also took way longer because it did not peel off like in the pics. On mine, there's a slight outline of the label that can be seen under better lighting than in the car, but not noticeable when installed. There's also what appears to be glue residue that would not come off in certain areas despite soaking in alcohol and also Goo Gone for various lengths of time, even with agitating with a toothbrush. I gave up after an hour. It's from a TX car so maybe the label just cooked on the visor long enough to leave its mark.

I had to soak mine for almost 30 mins each before I felt like the stickers would come off nicely. There were little tiny bits that were stubborn. I was able to remove them with a microfiber towel dampened with alcohol as well.

You definitely see an outline of where the sticker use to be. Once it's back in the car though it's infinitely less noticeable than the stickers you just removed.

Done in 5 minutes. You're tip on the stronger alcohol concentration is the key, I think. Didn't even know it came in more than one strength. I wonder, will this tip work with alcantra covered visors like in the X4?

Help! Guys, I feel like an idiot, but I can't for the life of me disconnect the two halves of the connector. (See my bloody thumb in photo). I understand that the larger piece stays with the sun visor and which 2 parts are supposed to disconnect. Could anyone show me with arrows on my pics exactly where to insert the tool and which direction to push? I can't seem to figure it out.

I can't believe I'm stumped on this. I sailed through changing all of my interior trim to CF, changing the mirror caps, the door sills and did a bunch of things on my e46 previously, including changing the A pillars.

If anyone could help me I would appreciate it so much. My visor is hanging by its cords right now and all I want is to get those stickers off this weekend!

Use a tiny screwdriver and pry it apart where the small rectangle inserts into the larger one. It’s not easy to see but just pry and it will pull apart.

I did the label removal but was bothered by the shadow left behind. For those with similar OCD issues Cat at IND can get you an EU set for ~$300 with no warning labels. To my admittedly insane eye they look a lot nicer than stock w/ labels removed and shadow remaining. Not a ton of $ at the end of the day.

Thanks so much. Appreciate the response. I tried over and over again and just could not get it. So I ended up spending half my Sunday removing the label in the car. Oy.

I'm going to try and see if I can get the other one disconnected tomorrow. If I can't, I'll get it to hanging again and then stop in at BMW at lunch and ask my service advisor to show me.

But I really want to get it myself. And there's no way I'm doing the removal in the car again. That was brutal.

I got the second visor off and done. Looks great and now I don't have yellow stickers in my line of vision! Thanks again to everyone for the DIY and tips.

First of all, THANKS to NEUE02 for this amazing DIY thread. I read it last night, and planned to do a "trial run" of the sun visor removal and wiring disconnect processes.

Today, it took me all of two minutes to remove the visor. The first electrical connector came apart with no struggle*. Oh, boy!!

So, I went down the street to Rite-Aid and got a $3.99 (on sale) spray bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol.

• I sprayed a small amount of the alcohol on the sticker, and worked it in with my finger. Then I immediately applied a second thin coat.

Here's where things diverge from the OP's technique. (I think I've improved on the process.)

• I took some kitchen 'cling' plastic wrap, and flattened it over/around the sticker to 'seal' the soaking sticker, to keep the alcohol from evaporating. I think this gives the sticker a more potent alcohol bath. (It occurred to me to do this because of the prior comments about the ineffectiveness of 70% alcohol, and how quickly/easily even 91% alcohol evaporates/dissipates.)

• About 2-1/2 minutes later, I tested a corner and found the sticker was ready to peel off. (IMPORTANT: I think that soaking the sticker for more than 3 minutes could make the sticker too prone to disintegration, and also leave behind more gooey residue to clean up.

• I held a very gentle tension across the lifted end of the sticker, and the sticker continued to release from the visor. There was almost no residue, which I easily cleaned off with a little more alcohol and a kitchen nylon scrub pad/sponge.

*The second visor was equally simple, EXCEPT that the ####ing electrical connector wouldn't come apart. Finally I yanked it apart with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Geeezzzz!

Anyway, that was the only minor glitch. Everything went right back together and looks fantastic, as nature intended!

I made a vid of me easily pulling off the sticker in one piece, but couldn’t figure out how to upload it.

Here's a few pics, anyway. First, a sticker soaking in alcohol while sealed under plastic wrap for 2-1/2 minutes. Next, pulling gently on the sticker. Third, the dead sticker on the clean visor. Last, one visor done and reinstalled!

It’s so easy.

Finally got around to doing this.thanks OP.
For anyone wondering if the stronger % rubbing alcohol really makes a difference, well it does.
I used 51% on the first visor and it was a pain.
Bought 91% for the second visor and it was much easier. Neither came off in one piece, but using 91% made it much easier.
Used the plastic wrap and soak for 15 minutes method on both, along with a microfiber towel.

If you would've soaked them for less than three minutes – not 15 – I'll bet they would've come off like mine did in one piece, with less work. I think over-soaking makes them deteriorate during removal and leaves behind more residue.

New 91% alcohol bottle. Soaked for 2.5 min. Sticker would not budge. 2 min longer. Nothing. 10 min total and I know have this. Not sure where to go from here.
