Has anyone out there received this free OTA update? I have a 2016 228i convertible, which has last years map 2015-3 edition. I live in Oklahoma. BMW genius tells me it will automatically download when available in my area. Can't seem to find any blogs or anything that talks about this. No one at the dealership has a clue!!

Happens every quarter or so for the region you have selected. Needs to be activated via iDrive though before it will work. 2015 M235xi April 2015 production date.

How am I suppose to do that. I wasn't instructed to do this from BMW genius or the dealership. Appreciate your help.

Mine did that this weekend, I think. I was driving and the screen changed asking me if I wanted to install the navigation update now or next restart of the car. I didn't do anything special to activate it.

Salesman, parts, service writer, did not know anything about free OTA updates. I found out on my own through the web. BMW Genius finally acknowledged they would be OTA, but didn't know when they would be available in my area. Very frustrating. By the way thanks for help.

Go into the Nav, then options, scroll down, there should be a reference to OTA activation... You have to select region and then confirm that choice ... Check afterwards by following sabe steps if OTA is activated.
