No, I need a functional rear seat on occasion.

I know two people so far who have bought them in the local car club and quickly sold them due to not being very good on the track, due to limp mode, poor overall suspension capabilities and brakes that overheat too quickly.

If it had a manual and windows that didn't buffet terribly, yes with some caveats (although not at full price). Toyota can tune a car to handle and steer better than BMW. It may be an abomination to the Supra name and heritage, but at least it drives well, its not really my first pick of sports cars though, I'd go for a Cayman or GT350 or M2C before a Supra.

Likely not. For a few thousand more, I'd be looking at the C8.
I actually like the looks of the Z4 much better, but do not want to own a convertible. If the Z4 had a coupe version, I'd have been all over that. The Supra concept car when first shown was so much better looking. This one looks "off" to me in some ways The 2'er really is the more intelligent choice between the two cars IMO. |

No. I wanted (and continue to want) more of a GT car, not a sports car. If I were to choose a sports car, it would be a Cayman.

Nah. I’m partial to the slightly understated look of the 2 series at every trim level and I find it very practical overall for its size. I wouldn’t feel right in a Supra. It’s aesthetically too track-bound and has that BRZ street racing vibe. Not a bad vibe, just not my style. If I wanted on-paper figures close to that Supra, I would spring for the M2C and likely experience better performance anyway.

I've been looking at the supra extensively for the 2021 model year and I just can't bring myself to get it. I paid too much for my M240ix and the depreciation feels like someone is secretly robbing me each month but it's still a car and it does car things very well. I feel very safe in it and have had three people in it and luggage for a week for road trip vacations a couple times with no complaints. I love small cars, I love sportscars, but most of all I love USEFUL cars. I don't feel like the Supra is very useful even though I do think it's a great sportscar.
BTW my local Toyota dealers have dropped nearly 10k off the price of 2020 Supras they still have on the lots. |

It's a no for me. I've never quite felt the allure of the Supra, current, or any previous generation, but then again, I've driven one and I've never seen a Fast & Furious movie either. I love my M235i vert with it's MT, even though like DistantTea I am frustrated by it's accelerated rate of depreciation. I'm at 3.5 years and 50K miles now and expect it'll be in my garage for at least another 50K. I think the 2 Series is the sweet spot for me. When my mind wanders to the "next" car, it typically lands on Porsche in the form of a Boxster S, or in my wildest dreams a 911 Targa 4 or 4S.

Sure would. A B58 with the correct transmission (don't @ me), in a shell that's a fair bit lighter, has a shorter wheelbase, wider track width, and space for more appropriate tires. Sign me up.
Oh, and since day 1, better aftermarket support than our cars after 7 years of production. Last edited by msendit; 08-18-2020 at 10:35 AM.. |

The chassis, motor, and transmission are spot on, especially the 2021 model. If it had a manual, it would be even better (though slower).
HOWEVER, I cannot get over the looks. It's dialed up to "11" with all fake vents and aero stuff. It's the Japanese equivalent of US automakers obsession with chrome trim and wheels and useless wings. If the Supra didn't have all the fake vents and useless aero, it would be high on my list. I just can't get past it and it's trying too hard and it's all fake. The car would be so much elegant and timeless without all that crap. As such, it's a pass for me. I'd much rather have a 2018 N55 M2 (No M2C because of the S55 crank hub issues).

I think I drive with the windows down maybe 4 hours out of the year. So definitely wouldn't bother me. Bigger issue is no stick .. but I would still consider.

I believe you can buy a $20 part that greatly reduces the buffeting.

it's not that much of an upgrade.
If I buy 2 seater sports car, it must give me a big performance upgrade. C8 will be 20k more but it's worth every penny. |
