My first time with a driving instructor in the car, the combination of being not at all smooth as a novice, the nicely bolstered BMW seats, and the phenomenal grip our cars get on RE71R's led to him getting motion sick, vomiting upon leaving the car, and joking about his wife thinking he'd gotten in a fight with how bruised up he was going to be. Fortunately, I got much smoother as the day went on, so his health wasn't at as much risk.

My usual trunk kit is full of:
e-impact / all metric sockets within the BMW's needs (13mm-24mm) Wrenches and 3/4 sockets from 8mm-21mm Allen keys/sockets, TorX sockets Flathead/Philips screwdrivers Zip Ties, hose clamps (various sizes) low-pro aluminum jack and 4 lo-pro aluminum jackstands Spare oil, brake fluid, coolant and fuel (10L) Spare wheel/tire Spare wheel fastening hardware (bolts/studs & nuts depending on setup) Coilover wrench/ damper adjustment knobs Tire Pressure gauge (old school style, analog) + Airhawk inflater Most of this all fits in a fabric tool bag about the size of a kids backpack. The rest is loose, larger items which won't fit in the bag. Cant think of anything else, really. Never needed half of this stuff on a given day as I do a lot of preparations prior to any track day, and post previous events.

^^^ Same as above.
Whole bunch of shit I've never used. I also take my AAA card for obvious reasons.

Here's the stuff I jammed into my car. Cooler and personal supplies will go on the front seat in the morning.

What do you guys do with all of your gear while you're on the track? Just leave it near your parking spot and hope it doesn't get stolen? Rent a garage or covered space?

I rented a garage if the club didn't reserve them for instructors. Some of the time I had my own garage in the form of a 20' enclosed trailer. If I had ever had to park out in the open, and it was going to be a cold, rainy event, I would have just taken less gear and relied on other drivers if I was short a tool or something else.
