I've heard of people leaving a box beside their mailbox for instant recycling of such items. I'm an old dog though, and drag it all in the house and then back out again on recycling day.

The worst part is that my DW (who hasn't passed the AARP age) says that I should join because of a free $12 value AARP-logo tote bag or some other useless perk. I know better than to roam around town carrying a "mug me because I'm an old person" bag, and I'm sure that she wouldn't be seen out in public carrying it if she thought about it for one second before falling for the "free stuff" trap.....

Based solely off the scene in this movie, a person who is familiar with this scene would get a chuckle in the event that....let's say someone was passing a marijuana cigarette and a bottle of liquor back and forth; and someone were to say, "Cannonball.....cannonball coming!" In most cases, the other people will stare at you like a complete buffoon. If this particular scenario was transpiring, someone made the comment and someone in the present group were to say this line and others in the group were familiar with this scene in the movie; accolades would be given and an overall general feeling of gratitude, warmth and laughter would be shared by all.

Somehow this seems way less funny than it was at the time that it took place. I'll see myself out.

The cannonball that you are referring to is basically a jump into a pool where one balls themselves up, mid-jump in order to create the greatest displacement of water possible; usually in the general direction of someone who is not inside the pool thus getting them wet. General laughter ensues afterward usually.
