IIRC I had a dealership replace this part for a few hundred bucks.

Took a couple days.

BMW of Vista in California did the repair for me when I hit a 4" metal plate lol

Nice! and that sounds cheap. I picked up that part from ebay for around $100 I think. it is painful to get off the ferry ramp here in Seattle with the lip being so low especially around low tide. i am sure i will have to replace mine at some point so i am holding on to it.

Well, after a year, my time has come and my first splitter has ripped off, taking this piece with it. It doesn't look like there was any conclusive info on this thread on whether or not replacing that whole piece will work?

Once you take the bumper off, the bolts and attachment points will be clearly exposed.
Unbolt what's left of the old, broken attachment and bolt on the new one. You need to replace this part, as it attaches to the splitter.

Also note that mounting points for my bumper was also ripped off, so I improvised by using metal washers, hot-glueing them on to recreate the damage tabs.

If had to do it over again, I would probably pass on the new splitter to avoid this nonsense. But it does look pretty sweet but too high maintenance.

Good luck.

Thanks man, I'm thinking of skipping the splitter as well. So we aren't able to replace the piece without removing the entire front bumper? Or is that more of a convenience?

Unfortunately, you have to remove the bumper for the attachment bolts to be accessible. There is no way around that, as the bumper completely covers them.

I guess that's why I'm reading that the labor is close to $1,000 to R&R this piece. Sounds about right for dealer rates..

Just as an added F-U, when I attempted to remove the headlight washer nozzle on the bumper, the end broke off clean, without much force I might add, just the strength of my finger nail. It's very fragile, be careful.

I priced a new washer and it was close to $100, so I just capped them off and decoded the headlight washer feature. I didn't really care for them but I would of liked to keep them functioning, as intended.
