Focal KRS/IFBMW vs. Eton B100W

This forum and others have a lot of information on the Etons and Focals and JL, but nothing that I've found that directly compares subjective listening of the first two:

I have the HiFI and have the JLs in the back and center disconnected, and I'm trying to decide whether to get the Focal IFBMW-S or the Eton B100W. Some mention of the Morel Maximo 4C as well.

Anyone (Viffer?) listened to the Focal and Eton to be able to compare them?

Did you got to compare them ? What did you chose in the end ?

I think the focals are easier to install since they have crossover integrated in the cable, the etons have another little box you need to tuck away

Been reading the audio upgrades threads and many thanks for all the feedback.

I'm interested to upgrade my HK equipped M2C soon but I'm hoping to retain the stock amp. I'm thinking, which would be a better upgrade?

Option 1 - Focal set up -> locally available where I'm from
- Focal IFBMW-S on doors
- Focal IFBMW-C on rear
- Focal IFBMW-SUBV2 x 2 under seats (not sure if tackled already but is this component still plug and play?)

Option 2 - Eton set up -> not really familiar with this brand but reviews in the forums seem very positive, need to import by myself though
- Eton B100 W on doors
- Eton B100 X on rear
- Eton B195 Sub x 2pcs (has anyone installed Eton sub to replace the HK ones?)

I'll have a local audio specialist shop do the install for me and planning to have sound damping. I'll also follow the other suggestions like disabling center speaker, ASD, etc. The audio shop is a good friend and he generally charges reasonable fees.

Apart from Focal and Eton, any other good plug and play speaker solution that you've tried and can recommend?

Will the aftermarket subs give a good improvement over stock? Or do you suggest I just skip this?

Thank you in advance!

if you're having a shop do the labor - then plug and play isn't a requirement no?
so can you expand your horizons (or save some money by not purchasing the 'made for BMW' version of the same speaker)? or have you reached the stage where it's just A or B.

Hi! I haven't done anything on the M2's sounds system so far. I did pre order the Revenant amplifier from Bavsound.com which many people say is exactly the same as the Audio Fischer Match UP 7BMW.

For speakers, I'm really undecided yet but I'm leaning towards the plug and play systems for easier integration. Plus I'm a bit worried affecting the car warranty if I did something permanent.

So far, I'm still considering the IF-BMW-S (can anyone confirm that it fits well?) and the Eton (not easy to buy online). I'm also a bit considering the Bavsound but there seems few feedback here. Anyone install Bavsound? How do you find these speakers?

Anyway, I'm still open for now and hope to hear some feedback. Thanks!

Since the BMW mounts using 3 screws in corners like a triangle and normal speakers have 4 screws in corners like a square - from the million threads on the subject you basically have 3 options:

1) get an adapter for the screws and go for any 4" speaker that fits. Sky's the limit.
2) get a speaker that already has the 3 screw mount i.e. focal, CDT, Eton, etc.
3) custom placement altogether using any speaker you are partial to.

warranty would only be for audio. So if you remove the existing audio and replace, you no longer have an audio warranty with BMW (but would with the shop that installed it theoretically - unless you are the shop)
But if you have a problem with your air conditioning, what you did with the radio has no bearing, you still have warranty there.

If you don't want to do this once, but want to spread out the install, you can just put in 2 speakers in the front doors and see how you like it.

From there you can decide if you want to do the amp too, or the 'mid-subs' or add a sub in the trunk. Depends on what your agenda is.
Otherwise - for plug and play - you sort of are stuck with an 'off the shelf' solution and there are only 2 or 3 as you note. Only alternative is to work with a local shop by you and do something totally custom.
On the forums very very few people have heard more than one system in their car aside from the factory and whatever they ended up with, so you won't really get a consensus as to which is better because no one has demo'd everything.
It's really pay and pray you'll like it. And honestly, from what everyone says, you will regardless of which direction you go.
