This is a different class of car. From the reviews I have read, the improvements are mainly in the engine for NVH and fuel economy. The drive is similar to the old Mazda 3.

Are you expecting it to out-do a 50/50 RWD BMW 2 series when it costs $10K+ less?

How about you provide a little something to the thread you created? Some more information, or an informed opinion. Sounds more like you work for Mazda NA and are trying to do some strange guerrilla marketing.

I suppose anything beats those terrible "zoom zoom" commercials...

My comment is that the wife owns a current gen MZ3 with a 6-speed and the 2.5-liter motor - and for what it is and what it cost ($23,887 out the door), it's one helluva car. The new one will, of course, be even better.

TLDR; Mazda does what they do very, very well.

I worry about the first year of the new engine, but we love our 2018 Mazda 3 5-door GT. It cost about half of what both our 2011 335d and 2017 M240i cost.....No question about relative value, but certainly a different class.

I've owned 2 mazdas in the past and enjoyed the driving experience on both. Unfortunately both proved to be unreliable with the mazdaspeed leaving me stranded more than once. Decently fun cars, but horrific reliability in my experience.

Which was the second Mazda model you owned?

I'd heard about Mazdaspeed reliability issues before we bought our 2015 MZ3, but not too much about Mazda overall. FWIW, we're at 60K, have only had to do the manufacturer's recommended servicing, and are experiencing typical Japanese reliability.

I think OP was trying to go for a fusion haiku-ish kodo style poem?
I had a great experience with my Mazda 3. Had it 6 years and 60k kms with absolutely no issues. And driving dynamics was actually pretty nice for a fwd car.

Protege. Coil packs would fail with some regularity leaving you stranded or with a rough 3 cylinder. Keep in mind this was all over a decade ago. I'm sure things have changed.

In our extended family, have had 9 Mazda products; all reliable and served us very well....two Miatas ('99 & '08); two Proteges; two Mazda 3 (one remains); and two Millenias and a current CX-5.

If I wasn't looking in the BMW price range, Mazda would be my first choice of an alternate brand. The only shortcoming of all but the Millenias and current CX-5, was NVH as Mazdas, until very recently, have not put a priority on quietness. Having recently driven my daughters '17 CX-5 for 300+ miles, I found it a significant improvement in that area.

I had a '17 Mazda3 hatch; a very nice car in its segment. Very easy to own and enjoy!

Had three Miatas before that. None of my Mazdas ever needed a warranty repair.
