I wasn't aware of changing the spark plugs, I'm assuming the m4 plugs are a step colder? Is this required for daily driving?

I wonder what the maintenance schedule for the OEM plugs are, it would suck for the dealer to change them and notice they are the wrong ones
Great to hear. You won't be sorry. GSR does great work.

Yeah they are 2-3 steps cooler. From what I understand plugs in cars like these (with stock configuration) last around 60-90k. With the tune and stock plugs they will foul pretty quickly. But with the cooler M4 plugs they should bring the replace cycle back up to 60-90K. (in theory). From what I've been told, either way, BMW won't typically look at or replace the plugs within standard 4yr 50k warranty. Since they should be lasting well past 50k miles. So I've been told..

Edit: I do think the plugs are worth the upgrade even with daily driving. But not immediately time sensitive. Once they start to go, you'll get stuttering in certain situations.

Talk to Nick about the plugs, he should be able to inform you better then me!

I think it'd be a package deal; tune and plugs at the same time and call it a day

For those who are looking for M4 plugs, last week I placed an order on eBay and paid about 17 USD each from bmwofatlanticcity. Can't wait to have them installed.

Shipping included! Very good deal.

Indeed! Just to be clear, I'm not affiliated with any vendors and usually shop at Tischer's but that was a must go.

Do you guys know if I'm allowed to post eBay links here?

By the way, I just checked on getbmwparts again and it seems like they have applied an extra discount. It's now 19.59 plus shipping. Not bad if you're shopping other parts too.

Since they're official vendors here, there goes the link.

I also talked to and he didn't feel the need for charge pipes at this time as the extra boost his tune is making is minimal with regards to the durability of the charge pipes, especially with the newer models. As such, I'm not going to be upgrading my CP at this time.

As for the DP, I'm going to be the beta for his 228 DP. I was looking and talking with the guy (can't remember his name) who does the welding and he has some serious skills...I've never seen such nice welds and he consistently performs at this level, hence I'm not going to run an ER DP!

Hope this helps!!!
+1 I was Beta for the F25 N20 DP

You're welcome sir. I'd go for it regardless. The price is great and the summer should be coming next year

Btw, the summer is 3 months away down here and the temperature is already 95 F and rising. =/

Going to a colder plug is primarily for those who have tuned their cars. The added boost creates more heat, so the colder plugs are beneficial in keeping the pre-ignition detonation in check.

Not sure of any benefit for a stock engine, but in case you decide to try it (no harm can come of this), you would need 4.

Only for tuned cars, you do not need it for stock car.
It's like putting 93 octane on a honda that calls for 87.

If you're having issue on a stock car, best to take it into the dealer and see what's going on first.

Hey guys i asked one of the local dealerships if i could have M4 spark plugs put into my car.

He says i dont need to mine will hold up just fine, Should i just say i plan on tuning it in the future? He also says hes not even sure if its compatible for N20 :/

I should say alot of people do it and i plan on tuning car in future?

All cars loose power when the weather is too hot..
Could be Intake Air Temp raises up (usually) due to small Intercooler.
So if you live in a hot climate or track your car often a MUST supporting mod is Front Mount Intercooler upgrade

The reason some of us and not all have upgraded our plugs, its because every car is different. Some cars have been running tuned on stock plugs longer than others and some cars are tuned more aggressively so the stock plugs in certain climates don't hold up too well.

So thanks to Stubok who did a lot of research for the N20 community found that upgrading to S55 plugs (step colder) got rid of all his misfiring hesitation. Which in most cases it has as well for others. So check your plugs and injectors and depending on how many miles you've been running tuned it may need upgrade. Its all part of the fun, faster more wear.
