Code Readers Foxwell vs Carly vs FIXD vs ??

I need to diagnose an adaptive headlight issue.

Accroding to the info on this page:
https://www.youcanic.com/guide/bmw-a...ights-problems

, most OBD2 readers won't recognize the AHL module and must be BMW specific from what I gather.

The Foxwell should give me access

Does Carly?

Any of you have any experience with the FIXD reader? According to the page it was their "editors pick", but I can't tell if it will read it or not. ( I got a generic bs response from the company that didnt answer the question.)
https://obdstation.com/best-bmw-scan-tool/
(note the FIXD reader is on sale for $19 on their site.... so the cost makes me question it.)

So have any of you used any of the above or another to access the "deeper stuff"????

I don't know about the AHL stuff. never had to look at that and don't recall seeing it in anything I mention below off the top of my head.

I had Carly. I didn't like it. it was cryptic, I didn't like the apps format and the big killer for me was when they switched to a subscription service.

I got a Foxwell and it works well. I can access the same stuff I did before and the unit is easy to use. on F chassis my Foxwell doesn't read the VIN automatically the first time, but if you "retry" it does quickly.

I've never gotten the Foxwell to work on any E chassis for some reason despite it supposedly being compatible (E30/E36).

The one thing I dislike about all these tools is the time it takes for them to connect and read all the computers. I use a Peake on my old stuff and it's instant. That's progress with technology I guess.

if you have an iPhone I'd give the Bimmerlink app a try. I've used Bimmercode and it was fantastic so I imagine link is the same.

now, queue the ista crowd!
