I just use Esco 10499 (short) jack stands with the flat rubber top and no adapters at all.

They work perfectly, are ridiculously stable with 3 tons each capacity, and no damage to the plastic jacking points that people use these adapters for; so long as you don't just drop the car full speed onto them.

Not cheap, around $200 for a set of four, but they are the best.

Same. The Esco is amazing. I just don't trust those home brew shops making these hacked jacked stands together. The one in the OP honestly doesn't look safe to me at all.

On the very safe and easy but very expensive end of the spectrum are JackPoint Jackstands. Worth looking into at least...

I'm interested for sure. I have 2 perfectly good jack stands and it would be nice to use them rather than to spend $55 each on the Esco jack stands. Although those do look nice.

Boy those are definitely beauties. I guess I'm just cheap and old school, I took a few old hockey pucks and cut them down with a hack saw to form a block the same size as the receptacle on the frame. I made them about 1/2 thickness of the puck so a nice pad is left on the bottom. I sit one on each of my Hyd floor jacks and they work like a charm. I keep one in my trunk just in case although I don't have a jack in the car.
