I have a RWD M240i convertible with 6 speed manual as my year round daily driver. I got the summer tires and also got minus1 sized Nokian snows mounted on separate rims. Drives really well in both seasons. I’m in New England, we get snow.

I have an M235i RWD with Michelin X-Ice 3 in Toronto and it's been fine in the snow. We had quite a few dumps of the white stuff this winter and the grip is excellent. One thing to note is to turn DSC off (and DTC on) so that it allows some slip when starting from a standstill in deep snow.
Another thing to note: there are "winter" tires and "winter performance" tires. The X-Ice are winter tires and not "winter performance" tires like the Bridgestone Blizzak, Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 or Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4, so they don't handle as well on dry pavement. When I switched from my old Bridgestone Blizzak to Michelin X-Ice Xi3 there was a noticeable drop in handling on dry pavement, although the X-Ice are way better once the snow is deep. |
