m235i rear noise under hard acceleration

i had a noise like a scratching metal sound from rt rear tire under hard
acceleration, would hear it in 1st and 2nd..(8spd) auto trans....
well, found out and $400 later...its a broken bracket with the parking brake
cable.
cable has a small metal cover at a place above drive shaft,,maybe bmw thought this might happen...and it does..;brakcet breaks and cable rubs on the drive
shaft..
i have had my 2016 for a yr...seldom use the parking brake, used it the other day..kinda pulled it up forcefully..ta dah,got the noise the next day
called my one grandson,,,he has a dinan modded m235i, and i was too late,,
he did same thing a week ago, and he took car in and $400
dont take it to BMW, dealer, they have to take down gas tank and go thru a ton of labor..check out all german auto of escondido ca, they make a bracket to replace at 1/2 the cost of the dealer..
so, beware...use your parking brake very carefully...

Good info, coincidence because I was taking about parking brake usage with someone at the gym today.

Years ago, I had a Ford Taurus wagon (kid hauler). I NEVER used the parking brake. Well, it turned out that occasional parking brake use adjusted the brakes. They were completely out of whack. MY BAD. I wonder if lack of use may have precipitated this problem too.
