New order 2021 230i MSport/manual

I decided to get an order in before the model changeover. Re price, I got $4,500 under MSRP and around $1,500 over Kelly Blue Book on the trade. There are c. $500 fees on the sale.

I did drive an M240xi the dealer had in stock before putting the order in -- very fast but felt heavy, especially at the front with rough ride -- perhaps because of the all season RFTs. Anyway, I decided to go with the four after reading about the handling balance -- and because of the money. In the absence of adaptive suspension this year, I did dither on MSport vs Sport Line with the performance tire option as I'd read in the UK press that the base suspension worked better overall on difficult secondary roads, but went MSport on the advice of the sales rep. I'm still second-guessing that choice.
  • MSport package/summer non-runflat performance tires/staggered wheels with increased top speed limiter
  • Alpine white
  • Oyster/black Sensatec with wood
  • Manual transmission
  • Heated seats
  • Black kidney grille surround delete

Looking forward to getting it. I plan to get a set of winters to go with it -- perhaps BBS 17" rims with Bridgestone WS90.

Sweet. Nice to see that we can still get that important third pedal on a non-M car. Good choice!

That's a great spec...all the key pieces w/o the expensive add-ons. I understand the M Sport is primarily cosmetic but am told you get those option dollars back come trade/sale time.

Enjoy it...maybe even take delivery at the Performance Center East in Spartanburg, SC...but if you decide on that...tell your Client Advisor ASAP as it could change the delivery port.

I also just ordered a 2021 BMW 230i, and I did decide to go M-Sport. It's a large add on, but for me, the cosmetic changes improves the car so much to me and the steering wheel upgrade was a must! As someone else said, when I looked at used ones, I didn't even consider non-M-Sport models.

Thanks. Congratulations on your order too. What's your spec? It's always interesting to see what others go with.

Re MSport -- Agree about that steering wheel.

Thanks for the reply. I went with the MSport because of the suspension upgrade that is included. I was back and forth on this for a while - ride quality vs. handling in the absence of the adaptive suspension option this year. I see mine queued for production on 11/23 -- looking great. It will have to be local delivery for me this winter.

Thanks. That, and German manufacture, were drivers in my decision to go 2021.

I have the stock suspension with 17" wheels. The handling is so far above my previous ride that trading ride quality for even better handling would not have been worth it. But that's just me and my DD.

Totally understand that thinking -- why I went back and forth for so long on this, particulary in light of the European reviews.

When did you order? Most of what I've seen is build dates 10-12 weeks out from order date. Did your dealer already have slot available and the factory converted a car already in the queue to yours?

The order went in around 10/27. The build date is 11/23. I was told 50 to 70 days for delivery. I don't have any information about whether the dealer converted a prior order.

Arrived 1/15/20. It's a pleasure to drive, nimble, lighter and more agile feeling than the 240xi I drove.

Congrats on a great acquisition. I had the same experience comparing different powertrains when I chose similarly to yours.
