Now, if the M2 does get an I4, what does that say about the chances for the M235i to get the new B68 I6 after it appears next year in the 4 GC (if rumors hold)? The new motor should be capable of quite a bit more power than the N55. So would they just keep the N55 in the M235i or would they switch to the B68 but in a relatively low state of tune? Quote:

Of course, it's all in Mercedes web site, in configurator, everywhere, it is officially 360 ps or 355 hp/bhp, same as the E46 M3 CSL or same as what dynoes "globally" prooved for any 1M Torque is 450 nm, same as M135i or Audi RS3, 1M has 500 nm advertised, around 550 in reality.

Considering the development of the m235i and the chassis based on an I6 weight balance I would expect a similar power output and construction maybe boosted by intercooler and tuning. This all taking into consideration that it can't have more than the m4s' projected torque output on paper. Regardless I trust the m engineers to get my next car right after they hit the e82 spot on.

For me it's gotta be a six! It's tradition! I know I know the e30 m3 was a 4 banger, but come on!! We need the silky smooth inline six, with it's beautiful sound under the bonnet! If its anything less, I'd walk away personally.

i doubt they're going to give the M2 a 4Cyl engine when the m235i already has a monster n55 6Cyl. i think a revised n55 is the way to go.
if they want to be extra nice they can throw the F8X running gear in it and make it the perfect ///M car <3 |

Frankly, the two series -- M and otherwise -- should just use the engines in the three series. That the current 1er did use the 3er engines is part of what makes them so great. Why screw up a good formula?

How about a 5-cyl? I think this will be a nice engine for the 2er. Heck it it be beneficial to 3er bc that 4 cylinder doesn't sound that good under load.

I would be ok with an s20 motor depending how it sounds. I really don't care for the sound of the n20 at idle (engine ticking) this is the only thing that worries me. I would prefer a N54 with about 360hp since I had two cars with this motor and I have to say I enjoyed it more than my E92 M3. Realistic with fuel economy and technology it will prob be a i4.

I would like a high revving NA I6. More modern version of S54.
Wishfull thinking? Can we just get a good old no headaches normally aspirated track-able BMW. PLEASE!!!! Let the street kiddos play with the M235i. |

I wish you could add a vote option for a TT V8 in the car with xdrive!!!? That would actually be awesome power and to hell with the weight... it would be mad usable power! That would be a great daily driver car for us in the North Eastern states in the winter time...

I think a high output version of the n51 would be epic. The output could easily be in the low to mid 300hp range. Magnesium and aluminum block will keep the weight down. Maybe a small turbo to help the power output if necessary. NA would be awesome tho.
