Car seats, didn't even think of this before buying!

So, I have 4 BMW's in the garage and a Jeep and Truck but thought it would be fun to have a convertible for wife and I and 4 year old Granddaughter to ride in.

My buddies dealership had 2016 228 Convertible and I liked it. Bought it and brought it home. Went to install the car seat in back seat and .....

That's right, it barely fits! No place to hook the over the top restraining strap and no room for her feet unless the pass seat is moved way up!

Oh well! Should still be fun.
Any ideas or help?

At one point I purchased a '95 318ti from the U.S. The main thing required for it to pass Canadian laws was a bracket for the baby seat. You might look on Canadian websites. It was just a metal bracket and a bolt. Jack

My wife's 2016 228i M-Sport convertible indeed has the lower bracket, but none for the top - same as her previous 128i M-Sport convertible. As I recall, we used the rear seatbelt to secure the top of the child seat for my grandson on the 128i. You might be able to use the 228i's headrest rails? We put the child seat on the passenger side if I was driving and vice-versa if the wife was driving so we could move the front seat forward. Only thing was when the top was down, there was no way to use the wind deflector, and it was uncomfortable for the grandson at anything over 30 mph.

Reminds me of my 2004 330ci. We went from no kids to two in less than three years. I was in complete denial when she was pregnant for the second, I was so convinced I'd be able to fit the second seat I wouldn't even test fit the second reverse seat. First time I had to bring both to day care I drove with my head touching the A-pillar... : traded the car in that weekend for an SUV. Oh well. Have new M240 convertible now.

I'll send you a picture of my wife's 228 with two forward facing car seats in the back if I get a chance to take a picture of it tomorrow before she leaves for work. It's tight and they end up angled in towards the centerline a little bit, but they do fit and my kids love it.

Pretty much what I've done. She's on pass side and use the seat belt thru the back. It firm and tight.
