Bimmercode
Before my 2021 M240i arrived in December I purchased the Bimmercode app and downloaded into my Galaxys10+. I used it to did some coding in my car once it arrived. Worked like a chime.
I recently got an Iphone 12 Promax so I can use the Apple Car play in my car. I wanted to explore and do more coding with the Bimmercode. To my surprise there is NO transfer option on my purchased Bimmercode app. to my new Iphone 12. Basically I have to re-purchase the same Bimmercode app. again. That is totally BS. I have already pay for it one month ago and now they want me to pay for it again. I found it difficult to believe this can not be done. If I have to pay for it again I am thinking of getting Bimmerlink instead. Can anyone comment on how Bimmerlink is working out? |

Strange. There was a way to restore purchases? I did it back in 2016 when I was using my iPhone 6 then I got my iPhone X in 2017... oh wait, you're buying from an Android platform to Apple... maybe that's why!

I use both Code and Link on my iPhone XS without any issues, they do 2 different things though so you mind as well buy both unless you can contact the dev and explain your situation.

Do you still have the old phone? If so you are good to go just use it to code. In the BMW Motorad community many apple users are not happy some of the coding options (MotoScan App)only work with Android phones so they buy a cheap android and use it for coding.

I can't say I'm surprised by this. If you switched from a Mac to a PC, you'd have to buy software all over again. I'm sure most other apps you bought in the apple store won't transfer over either.
Think about it from the developers point of view; they have to write two different programs for the different platforms. That takes additional time and they deserve to be paid for it.

I copied all my old phone stuff to the new iPhone 12 when I got it and Bimmercode came in, along with everything else.

Too late, I traded my phone in. Because of this bad experience I am considering Carly instead. Yes, it is more expensive but it has capabilities on other cars.

When switching platforms, developers don't switch licenses. When you buy an app on Google's Play store, Google takes 30% of the cut, and same for the iOS App Store. Developers don't issue charity licenses.
OP, Apple carplay is a godsend, for what it's worth. |

If you could just transfer from anyphone phone to the other, people would be selling their app in the used market to another person. And it wouldnt be long before someone figured out how to just make multiple copies that everyone would use for free.
If you were able to transfer all your existing/installed apps from your old phone to your new phone when you upgraded, it probable would have kept working or you could put in the same lic info to activate it since it is the same already installed app id. |

Licenses will not be transferred over different platform.
Most iOS licenses are not transferrable to the Android, and vice versa. This is one reason that makes you to stay in the same platform in the future. However, if the license is governed on the company level, like BM3 or XHP, there is a chance that your license is transferrable. Unfortunately, Bimmercode is not one of those.
