228i Exhaust Options

Looking for some advice on potential exhaust options for my 2016 228i that I picked up a couple months ago.

Want to balance cost with sound, but don't want it to be too loud or drone (made that mistake with my last car). Also, will get a new diffuser to allow for dual exhaust outlets.

The stock M235i and M2 exhaust are for sale here locally so can get it installed pretty cheap.
Options are:
1. Muffler delete

2. Stock M235i exhaust.

3. Stock M2 exhaust with muffler modified for dual outlet (exhaust is from a 2018 M2 not sure how much modification is going to be needed to put it on a 2016 228i)

4. M235i M-Performance Exhaust (most expensive option so not too keen to break the bank on this)

Anyone have any experience with any of the above options?

Just installed a very lightly used unit from a 235 on my 228 and I'm extremely pleased. Just the right mix of sound and refinement.

Are you using the stock or the m performance exhaust? Did you have to do an m sport bumper conversion? Do you have any pics available? Sorry for all the questions. I wanted to do the same for mine and I was curious to see how yours went.

Stock exhaust off of an M235. Yes, I had the M sport package and purchased a clone 235 diffuser which fit like OEM. I'll take some pics and share here and I'm working on a video which covers it. Highly recommended upgrade!

If you are patient and keep an eye on the classifieds you could pick up a stock M235 exhaust and diffuser for around $250 total. They aren't worth much and are annoying to ship, think I got $100 for my exhaust when I sold it.

I got the Dinan exhaust for the N20 and have enjoyed it a lot. No drone. Definitely a step up from stock

Active Autowerke axle-back paired with a downpipe sounds the best in my opinion

Unfortunately, I have not tested it with a 230i yet
