Using an impact wrench

In the past, I’ve just used a long breaker bar to loosen lug bolts during seasonal tire/wheel changes. Is there any downside to using an impact wrench instead? I’m more skeptical about using it to tighten the lug bolts as I don’t want to over tighten them, but I’m curious about your experiences. Mine is a Milwaukee corded unit.

I almost always use an impact to remove lug nuts make sure you have a good 6 point socket that fits the lugs well to avoid damage to the lugs. I never put them back on with one its to easy to over tighten unless you have a tourqe extension for the impact gun and even then I still do them buy hand

Okay, thanks. Makes sense.
