VIDEO: 228i with M235i M Performance Exhaust
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Sounds no different from the 328i MPE from what I can tell on Youtube, but I prefer the dual exhaust look. You'll need the M235i rear bumper insert ($100 shipped from SunAuto), extend the two hangers on the muffler (it lines up, but you'll need to extend them so there is no tension), and an exhaust fabricator to weld and connect the muffler to the piping since it does not line up perfectly. Took about 90 minutes to install, just find a shop that fabricates exhausts. |

love it, thanks for the video; planning to do this on my 220 (or with a 335/435 mpe, whatever's easier to get) mine might be slightly louder since I took out the resonator

Been thinking about removing the resonator also. Cold start is loud enough to set off the warning chirps on cars when parked underground, but after it warms up its quiet on idle. |

my cold start is quite loud too, but only with a M135 oem exhaust (don't think it's going to be setting off alarms anytime soon), everything after that is weak

Sounds good, a lot better than I would ever expect from a 4 banger. Whenever I hear the words "4 cylinder" and "sport exhaust" in the same sentence I automatically see a Honda Civic, so it's very hard for me to believe there is a tasteful way of doing this. Your video clearly shows that it is possible.

That sounds great! This BMW 4 banger sounds much better than competing 4 bangers. My previous car was a VW GTI with the turbo 4 and it sounded like crap in comparison.

Thanks everyone.
I wouldn't mind it sounding like this from the factory, and then making the M Performance Exhaust a little louder. I forgot to mention that the MPE is significantly lighter also. |

Love the sound! Can't wait to get mine installed. Just waiting for the Supersprint section 2 straight pipe.
What I want to know is, do all 228i autos get pale shifters?.....my dealer told me that only M235i autos got paddles 😔 |

Maybe the sport line and M sport line has the option for the sport transmission? I remember reading a thread about this. I think the dealer has the choose the option to not have the sport transmission. |

That has to be one of the best-sounding exhausts for an I4 that I've ever heard!
I really like that it brings out the "burp" with the gear changes too.
