Looking to do a significant amount of maintenance here soon. Currently at 85k miles.

I've read that German's (particularly Mercedes) use coolant hoses that can last well over 100,000 miles. So maybe inspection of hoses is enough.

Rear axle for leaks and if wet chk level.

If you've been doing coolant and brake fluid flushes as recommend by BMW brakes and engine coolant parts should be fine.

Rubber suspension parts, don't know if BMW propshafts use rubber flex-disc but all the rubber under the car should be inspected.

Sparks plugs definitely (is it ) every 60,000 miles or the year equivalent.

Paint clay, polish and wax is an important step in maintenance.

Transmission fluid if never done now would be a good time, Check engine mounts and the big bushings (don't know proper name) on the front suspension and inspect turbo charge pipe or replace as preventive if never been replaced yet.

I am also at 90,000 and have new shocks ready to install. I don't want to do springs but what else should I do at the same time as the shocks. Lower control arms?

I have been doing other maintenance all along including the oil filter housing, valve cover, coolant hoses and water pump. All prophylactically.

Thanks for any insights.

If you do shocks I would recommend strut mounts just because it’s one of those things that do wear and can make noises after changes. I did it when I redid some suspension parts. I’m approaching 125,000 miles.
I think I’ve pretty much replaced any plastic part that’s known to fail at this point.

I am also entering the high maintenance phase, just crossed 116K miles on my 235i.

Basically all of the rubber components in the suspension and drivetrain will be nearing the end of their life. Seems like the bushings in the front end tend to go before the rear, if you want to focus on one end at a time. The flex disc engine and trans mounts will be going, and possibly the rubber diaphragm that holds the center support bearing.

Changing out all of the fluids is always a good idea, the lifetime maintenance link shared above is a good rule of thumb for mileages.

Leaking VC Here

at 85K -- the oil leaking from lower L/H VC its enough to smell after a 30+ min drive.
.
.
Was torn over just gasket vs aftermarket VC vs OE.
.
I have the new OE Mahle VC awaiting for install here in a few weeks.
.
.
The integrated PCV led me to just getting a new VC. Then only wanting to install an OE Mahle VC gasket made the difference in price between say a Elring VC + cost of new OE gasket --- to just buy from BMW or FCP.
.
The Elring from FCP was. probably the smart money.

im at 87k miles so far, and have done the serpentine belt/tensioner, coolant overflow hose, spark plugs and coil boots, chargepipe/turboinlet. if you havent don any of those, id look there.

suspension wise, if it isn't making noise or visibly [physically] worn-run it.

and like others mentioned, check for leaks around VC / oil filter housing and diff, then go from there.
