I didn't end up taking it in. I have had bad luck with leaving the dealer with new problems that "magically" pop up after being in for service. Decided to wait until it gets worse (if it does at all). Seems to be pretty normal characteristics of the clutch based on all the responses in this thread as well.

My 2017/230 has this defect also. It has happened only a few times in 45,000 miles. This clutch engagement issue is disappointing in an 'Ultimate Driving Machine'
On the far other end of the spectrum were the old air cooled Beetles. Could let out the clutch without even touching the gas. I taught a few girlfriends to drive stick in those. |

My Volvo 122S' worked that way, too. Given what passed for tires back in those days, that quality was especially useful on ice.
